330ml bottle from Possmann's shop, Frankfurt. Clear gold pour. Sweet honey-like apple aroma, moderately sweet taste, clean, almost no carbonation, not too much going on, but distinctly different from standard apfelwein. So-so

Süßlicher Geruch. Im Antrunk trocken und ziemlich sauer, aromatisch nach Äpfeln, süffig. Mittellanger Abgang, rund. 8/10/11/10/9/10

A clear pale golden yellow colour, no head. Aroma of mid sweet and tart juicy apples. Taste of sour apples, some wood, sulfur.

330ml bottle from Barrel & Batch, St Peters, Sydney. Orange golden colour with reddish tinge, white foam head that quickly dissipates to a thin rim and aroma of berry, syrup, candy, apple hint. Taste is sweet, berry flavouring, some apple, core, fruity, tangy, with slight tartness. Medium bodied, light carbonation, sweet syrupy finish. Quite OK.

500ml can from Possman's. Pours clear pale pink. Has an artificial fruity tang from the 20% blackcurrant lemonade it's made from. Clean, high carb.. generally ok for style.

330ml bottle from Possmann, Frankfurt. Pours a very pale green, moderate carbonation. Didn't realise it was made with mint and elderflower at the time, I tasted more cucumber and apple laces.. not as bad as feared.. a fairly sweet green apple fruit base.. but still a bit off kilter.

On tap at Atschel, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is bone dry, with tannic notes, dry apple skins, and straw. Flavour is tart and dry, with tannic notes, dry apple core, and finishing tart. Simple but competent made. Pleasant.

Bottle at Frau Rauscher, pours a clear rosé with a few bubbles worth of head. Nose has an artificial rose-like character — artificial cloying sweetness. Flavour is tart and sweet, artificially so, with too much sugar, though there is some tartness to back. Low-quality commercial nonsense.

On tap Frau Rauscher, pours a lightly hazy golden with a small white head. Nose is fairly neutral, with light hay and some apple core. Flavour is fairly dry, with gentle apple core, some mustiness, a little residual sweetness. Not anywhere near as complex as many others, lacking the tart, tannic, almost horse blanket-like character that the better ones have. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing special.
