can. thought this was a terrific little beer - refreshing with unique flavor. surprised me

16 ounce can into snifter, canned on 9/28/2016. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge ginger, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, anise, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, toasted brown bread, light coffee/molasses, and herbal/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and solid balance of dark/roast/bready malt and spice notes; with great strength. Pretty strong on the spices in the aromas, but not too overwhelming. Taste of huge ginger, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, anise, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, toasted brown bread, light coffee/molasses, and herbal/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spice and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of ginger, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, anise, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, toasted brown bread, and herbal/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and spice flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, lightly sticky, and slightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is a very good spiced imperial stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and spice flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Powerful spice aromas, but more balanced in the taste. This is still very perfumey/vibrant on spices either way. A very unique, but very enjoyable offering.

Can: Hazy yellow with a puffy white head. Pink grapefruit, passion fruit aroma. Sweet, strong, almost pulpy tropical fruits..... passion fruit, pineapple, grain malt. Grows slightly tart due to the huge fruitiness.... Pretty tasty......enjoyable with a hung-over brunch, I’d suspect.

Can. Wheat malt, pineapple, and apricot aroma - sour milk initially but faded as it warmed. . Golden yellow with giant white head. Moderately sweet pineapple, light apricot, wheat malt, lightly sour milk, and very mildly bitter grass flavor. Okay body - lightly sweet.

Can. Strong black coffee, chocolate malt, and hay aroma. Black with nice brown head. Moderately sweet creamy coffee, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter dry hay flavor. Good body. Nice - good coffee presence.

10 week old can > weizen glass A: Pale mostly clear yellow with a 1" head that lasted a couple minutes but never completely diminished, leaving thick lacing. S: Dry tart grapefruit scent. Not much else but smells good. T: Again very dry. Grapefruit pith dominates with a touch of mildly sweet grapefruit flesh and even some cracker at the end. M: Very light and stiffly carbonated, with a very dry clean finish. Extremely refreshing. O: Hits all the right notes though could stand a bit more malt flavor but it is a session IPA after all. Highly recommended.

Can. Orange, lime, biscuit malt, and dank grapefruit peel aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Mildly sweet orange, biscuit malt, and moderately bitter dank grapefruit peel/hay flavor. Good body. A very nice SIPA.

Can from the Trader Joe’s in Davis, CA. Pours translucent gold with a foamy white head. Aroma of pale stone fruit with a citrus hint. Med body or better. Flavor is juicy/perfumey pale stone fruit with some possible tropical. It’s not very dry, nor is it very bitter (IMHO). But given the TJ’s price point it’s one heck of a deal. And it’s also very tasty, even after a couple of bombers down the gullet. Don’t hesitate to grab it (unless something great is available).
