On tap at the Boise tasting room. Redish amber with a nice full dense light tan head. Malty aroma, the bitterness is of the woody husky type. Decent fresh hop flavors but not the light fresh citrusy kind. Pretty big, and lots of bitterness ending with a woody sharp bite.

There’s nothing not to like. Big, bold, beautiful ale, reddish in hue, small, tight creamy head. Wonderful hop nose, taste, even more so. For me, this was love at first taste. Excellent.

On Tap at the Boise tasting room. Dark brown with redish edges. Nice lasting tan head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with some dark ripe fruit notes. Fairly sweet tasting with some brown papery hints. Kind of a chalky moderate carbonation.

760 ml bottle from the brewery. Start with a nice soft, sweet aroma of roast grain and chocolate milk. Pours black with small creamy beige head, head could be thicker. Taste is chocolate, coffee, burnt toast. Velvety mouthfeel, nice lingering roasty finish.

Served on nitro in the taproom, smooth and black, small head, hops dominate but don’t overtake. Think milk stout with hops. One of the better beers I’ve had recently.
