Stubby. Orange gold with a white head that lasts OK. Grainy aroma with weeds. Watery. Slightly sweet, grainy, husky, dry and weedy at the slightly bitter end. Watered down Melbourne Bitter with slightly more prominent bitterness. There’s a bit of this about in Melbourne and it has date stamps and everything, so maybe seeing this in better nick than some other things. It’s OK.

330ml bottle into glass. Bought at Illawarra brewery. Indistinct nose, a little hop maybe. Typical lager appearance, small head. Very nice mouthfeel, chalky & spritzy. Light malty finish. Not bad at all.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Fiji tick! Pours a dark gold with minimal head. Aroma is very sweet. Corn and grains. Taste is light bitter. Follows aroma with some light herbal hops. Interesting. Pretty standard pale lager with a hint of something a little extra. Neat.

Bottle at Craig’s. It pours clear golden with decent white head. The nose is sweet, doughy, orange muffin and straw? The taste is crisp, grassy, dough, touch of paper and cardboard with a dry finish. Light body and fine carbonation. Smells ok, tastes so-so.

Breaking up my intense reviews of huge-alcohol barley wines, I’ve got this weird import pale lager found somehow in Edmonton. Comes in a stubby bottle. Pours with a clea golden body with minimal carbonation and can get decent head if coaxed the proper way. Aroma is tin and stale cardboard like a million other nameless pale lagers the world over. Flavour is heavy breadiness, a solid boring lager flavour with a dry finish. It knows what it is at least, and it isn’t especially good. But it could be worse, which is about the best you can say for it.
