Draft - Tons of barrel and bourbon notes with dark roast and dark chocolate. Jet black with a small light brown head. Dark roast, nice bitterness and a nice bourbon notes. Nose is deceptively big and boozy, but taste is nice.

On tap at Engine House No 9, pours a deep dark amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out lots of caramel malt and considerable resinous hops for an old ale. Flavour is very unusual, with earthy roasted chestnuts upfront, followed by resinous hops and bready caramel malt. Well-balanced and nicely constructed. Strange but decent.

Growler from Albertsons. $6...can’t beat the price. Pours out a copper/orange hue with a small fluffy beige head. So far so good. Initial aroma is toasted malt, brown bread, but soft. Taste is smooth and light, but body is a bit thin. Finishes with a bit of a metallic tinge, tannin perhaps.

10 oz draft at Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon. The pour is a dark black brown with a small khaki head that leaves behind nice lace. The aroma is a soft toasted bread malt, along with pine and grass hops. The taste is a delicate balance between the toasted softly roasted bready malt and the fresh clean pine and grass hops. The palate is medium bodied with active natural carbonation and a cleanly bitter toasted pine finish. Delicious.
