Description
Two guys born and raised in Croydon met shortly before the London riots in 2011 at a beer festival, and found they both were having thoughts about starting up a new brewery in the area. After nearly a year of test brewing,
planning and trying to find financial backing, The Cronx Brewery was formed in 2012.

In 2016 the Cronx Bar was opened in Boxpark Croydon. Run by a great team, the bar always has a wide selection of real ales and craft beers available.

‘The Cronx’ is a portmanteau of Croydon (Or it’s postcode; CR0) and The Bronx, and has been used as an affectionate tongue in cheek reference to the often much maligned London Borough we call home.

Closed in 2024. In 2925 the brewery site and equipment taken over by Titsey Brewery to use as a 2nd location. Subsequent Cronx beers startes to be brewed again.

Pours almost clear and is golden amber in colour with a thick frothy lasting white head. Aroma is malty biscuit and citrus fruit. Some lacing, moderately sweet taste, grapefruit hoppy bitterness and a mild spicy dry bitter finish.

Bottle from Fresh Fields Market, Croydon. It pours clear amber with a respectable white head. The nose is toasted grain, porridge, caramel, sweet biscuit, earth and dried fruits. The taste is crisp, bitter - sweet, hovis biscuits, dried fruits, fruit cake, stone fruit, caramel, porridge and candied peel with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. I am not really sure what this is, but feels much more of an Anglo-ale than American. A touch sweet perhaps. So-so.

Cask handpump, The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Thursday 28 January 2016 Pours black with a light beige head, quite attractive looking beer. Some light chocolate on the nose, in the mouth it is a nice combination of chocolate a little roastiness (ash) and a nice lactose element. Very good beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

ChrisO Tasting. Light haze on this pale gold beer, short lived white head. Palate is light and dry. Floral sweetness. Sweet cranberry fruits tempered by some light bitterness that creeps in. Semi dry finish. Hangs together well enough.

Bottle(s) shared at Chriso’s Xmas Tasting 2015. It pours very lightly hazy pale gold with a medium white head. The nose is pretty sweet...candy, sweet cranberry, cream soda, icing sugar and over-ripe banana. The taste is crisp, initially bitter, cracker, wheat, cranberry, candied peel, light spice, cream soda and banana with a short, sweetish finish. Medium body and moderate+ foamy carbonation. Not bad, but too sweet for the likes of me.

Fra keg på Green Dragon Croydon 27 Nov 15. Delt med Rune. Lys gyldenbrungul. Filmskum. Litt uklar. Søt fruktaroma. Smaken godt moden fersken. Blir litt syrlig etter hvert.
