About
Two guys born and raised in Croydon met shortly before the London riots in 2011 at a beer festival, and found they both were having thoughts about starting up a new brewery in the area. After nearly a year of test brewing,
planning and trying to find financial backing, The Cronx Brewery was formed in 2012.
In 2016 the Cronx Bar was opened in Boxpark Croydon. Run by a great team, the bar always has a wide selection of real ales and craft beers available.
‘The Cronx’ is a portmanteau of Croydon (Or it’s postcode; CR0) and The Bronx, and has been used as an affectionate tongue in cheek reference to the often much maligned London Borough we call home.

Cask at The Rake, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a fine, beige cream head. Lots of sweet cocoa on the nose. Medium sweet flavor, some sugary chocolate, light earth, mild chili heat. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet finish with light, roasty dryness, more chocolate, some lingering chilies, a bit of caramel. Decent.

Cask at Green Dragon, Croydon. It pours hazy deep brown with a medium beige head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, caramel, chocolate and just a touch of chilli pepper in the background. The taste is initially pretty sweet actually...caramel, cola and brown sugar then the chilli heat ramps up (but not to an unacceptable level), then some wood, touch of green veg and milk chocolate. Finishes up dry and moderately spicy. Medium body and soft carbonation. Actually the balance is pretty spot on, I assume they have made the base beer a lot sweeter to handle the sweetness. The body is definitely fuller than the regular entire. Good stuff - one of the few chilli beers I could easily drink a half of.

Old Fountain. Clear gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is smooth with a little carbonation. Neutral pale malt. Okay citrus, mellow orange, trace of lemon. Semi dry finish. Okay but I like my Golden Ales a bit more vibrant.

Cask at the 13th Egham BF @ EUSC - 15/11/12. Very dark mahogony brown with a medium sized bubbly beige head. Nose comprises light roast malt, toffee, sweet sugars. Taste as nose, a little sweeter than the nose prescribes and a faint touch of honey, Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not convinced by these guys - need to up their game a little or I’ll tire of trying out their beers!

Cask on a few occasions now. It pours deep amber with medium beige head. The nose is caramel, hazelnut, earth, wood and some leather. The taste is sweet hazelnut, caramel, plain chocolate, wood, earth, leather, dark fruit and faint vanilla. Medium body and soft carbonation. Flavoursome, well balanced and rather drinkable. The pumpkin spice version still pips this to the post.

From cask at Egham 13. Pours clear and golden amber with a small off white head. Aroma is milky and light caramelish. Milky, sour and vanilla. Bitter, dry roasted. Bitter and citric finish. Off.
