Pale, a bit hazy, yellow color, small white head. Cut grass hoppy aroma. Pale malty. Cut fresh grass flavor - lingering hoppyness. Light buttery notes. Long bitterness. Refreshing. Närke makes really interesting beers, this one has really interesting name ...

RBESG08 grand tasting... and then a bottle of Kaggen came in front of me. Gotta love those grand tastings. Poured an opaque brown/black. Very stable tan head. Nose... sweet maltiness, chocolate, coffee, yeast, some alcohol. Superbly balanced taste. Roasty, smokey maltiness... woody, tannine. Liquourish. Just lovely, but still not my favorite beer.

On tap@SBC 2008. Totally black body with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet roasted malt, roasted coffee, black chocolate, dry fruit and some alcohol. Flavor lives up to its expectation from the aroma. Incredible sweet, but well balanced with bitterness. Lots of roasted malt and coffee, chocolate and some nice and warming alcohol. Thick oily body and long finish, extremely nice beer. Coffee, liqueur and dessert at the same time.

Draught (Olutkellari,Helsinki) - Golden/amber in colour with a slight haze perhaps due to the cold serving temperature. A fresh floral aroma with grapefruit and lemon meringue. Tangy on the tongue at first but then becoming more bitter. lemon meringue in the taste with grapefruit and a pleasant bitterness. Very refreshing.

Special thanks to hopscotch for saving a slice of this even though we were running late for the tasting. Dark brown, muddy. Rich, tarry, boozy aroma. Tarry body, too, hot, woody with thick chewy malts. The added boozy, woody notes of the barrel interferes with what was otherwise a wonderfully malty beer.

(Re-rate, draught at St. Urho’s Pub Portteripäivät’13) The beer poured almost black. Its head was dense, medium sized and almost white. Aroma had roasted malts, sweetness and chocolate. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, hops, fruitiness and bitterness. Afteraste was roasty, hoppy and bitter. A nice hoppy and roasty brew.
(From old notes, draught at Pikkulintu on 2008-01-11) Almost black. Quite small head. Lots of roasted malts in taste. Some fruity hops which balance the malts. Score: 3.4

Unclear amber with a lasting creamy off-white head. Fruity aroma with blackcurrant, winegum and herbs. Fruity sweet flavour, some hop flavour and a bitter, dry finish. Rather strong carbonation which adds to an impression of an American beer, with English hops
