Bottle. Almost black with an inch of light tan head that fades fairly fast. Aroma of molasses, mild roast, coffee, licorice, berries, faint nut oil. Fairly sweet with roasted flavours melding well with mocha, licorice, berries/ cherries and dark sugars. Not a lot of bitterness at the end, just enough to draw a close to proceedings. Alcohol is just obvious, which IMHO is highly appropriate for this sort of thing. It’s been a while since I’ve rerated Żywiec Porter, but this is not far off it - a little less hoppy, more pleasing body. I remain a total sucker for this sort of beer.

Barwa złota, klarowne, piana biała, dość obfita, ale niezbyt trwała. W aromacie słodowość, lekka chmielowość. W smaku słodowe, dość wytrawne, ale nie puste, nuta chmielu wyczuwalna, trochę biszkoptowy słód. Metaliczność na poziomie niskim, nie przeszkadza jakoś szczególnie. Goryczka do średniej, nieco trawiasta, wysycenie, treść i pijalność w normie. Całkiem porządny lager, da się wypić z przyjemnością.

Bottle. Golden color, white foam. Aroma: citrus and spicy hop, a bit of fruit nectar. Taste: hoppy, citrus, honeydew, mango, clean.

500ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Sweet-ish, dark malty aroma, hints of rock sugar, treacle, malt lozenge, an alcoholic whiff. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty, notes of malt lozenge, treacle, burnt caramel, an alcoholic touch. Too sweet and alcoholic.

500ml Bottle - Black with a small head. Liquorice and salmiakki and particularly prominent in the aroma but some notes of coffee can be detected as well. Salt liquorice and hints of plain chocolate can be detected in the taste. Easy to drink and enjoyable yet not particularly complex for a beer of this strength.

Tap (Targowa, Wroclaw). Czarne, praktycznie nieprzejrzyste z cienkim kozuszekiem brazowej piany. Aromat dosc intensywny z wyraznymi nutami sliwki w czekoladzie, ktore przypominaja smak czekolady studenckiej. W tle pojawia sie takze delikatna nuta alkoholu choc ladnie ulozonego. W smaku polslodkie choc z zaznaczona goryczka, ktora delikatnie drapie w gardle. Nuta sliwki w czekoladzie to jednak smak przewodni a alkohol choc dobrze ukryty wyraznie rozgrzewa przelyk i od srodka. Piwo jest dosc gladkie, ulozone i mimo nieco drapieznego pazura, wyczuwalnejgo nasycenia jest bardzo przyjemne w odbiorze. Bardzo fajny porter choc jeszcze mozna go lezakowac.

Bottle contributed by and shared with OSG at his chalet in Sirevåg with OSB 13.08.16. Slightly hazy copper. Slightly acidic aroma and taste, with sour red berries, brett, prunes and wood. Dry.
