Bottled@Olutkellari Helsinki. Pale golden colour, not much head. Aroma is apples, some wood and whitewine like notes. Flavour is dry wood, quite much apples and also some sour and tart notes. Also some mild vanillaish notes. Pleasant apply and dry flavour.

Bottle, Morissons. Light golden colour, sparkling. Carbonated. Aroma of sour apple, phenol. Flavour of sweet apple, applejuice, phenol, earthy, yeasty. Dry finish. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours with a pale, slight green tinged body with a quick to fade white head. Aroma is minimal, with dry apples, tannins and newspapers. Taste is medium sweet with a neutral apple flavor up front. Midway through there is a note of bitter apple (mild though), and the finish is somewhat sweet. Taste is a bit like sweetened champagne. Lively carbonation with a good cider mouthfeel. Not cloying, which I feared. Actually a pretty enjoyable cider (despite the lower rating).

Bottle. Pours with a very clear pale body with a small fizzy white head that plays a vanishing act. Slightly room filling aroma. Notes of vinegar and a bit of sour-barnyard wild yeast note (but not noticed anywhere else but the aroma...no gushing and not in the taste), dry apples, and musty books. Taste is sweet and sour apple juice. A bit bland, but not bad at all. Some sulfur. Lively carbonation and a bit of a thin mouthfeel. Very sweet for a "dry" cider. Uh,oh, the medium is on deck...hope it is not cloying!

Bottle, Tesco. Poured a clear pallid gold colour with a somewhat green hue to it. Crisp, gently acidic apple aroma. Plenty of juicy apple in the flavour which had some sweetness mixed with woody hints. Crisply refreshing leading to a dry finish. A tasty cider amongst the dross on the shelves @tesco.

2008 bottle drunk January 2009 with approx. 4-6 months age on it.
After the delightful tartness of the dry cider from Aspall, I was very curious to try this guy. Similar in appearance, with, perhaps, a bit more amber color to it and equally carbonated. More mushy, red apple-like sweetness is apparent in the nose, with some musty, though I wouldnt quite say tart, notes on the end. A definite woodiness, like wet/damp sawdust is noteable in both these ciders, leading me to believe it must be a house character and not an unenjoyable one at that.
Cleaner, more straightforward in the mouth, with simple juicy sweetness and a less staying tartness/acidity on the finish. Some light alcohol creeps in to the finish and as the carbonation softens, it gets rather "mushy" and probably a little too lifelessly sweet. Good enough though, and the wild yeast/musty house character is a nice touch.

2008 bottle with probably 4-6 months of age on it. The bottle is identical to the label pictured here however, the box has Premier Cru on it, so I’m not sure that the two arent one and the same. Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised with this one, despite the obvious filtration and forced carbonation, it’s not overly fizzy (given some breathing) and has plentiful wild yeast character. The finish even ends with a nicely tart acidity that removes all the sweetness from the mouth. The aroma has notes of chardonnay and peaches, though white grape juice prevails lightly on the finish. Bits of doughiness and hay mark the opening flavor profile, which grows quite acidic as I mentioned, leading to a unripened nectarine/apricot fruitiness and vibrant green apple crispness. No alcohol noted. Very light in color. Clear. Moderately watery mouthfeel as the carbonation recedes.

Bottle from Waitrose. Pale golden in colour with no head and moderate carbonation. Tart, yeasty aroma with some green apples. Flavour of dry apple juice, a touch of oak and some yeasty spiciness, culminating in a dry finish. Good.
