330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy dark brown with light head. Aromas of dark fruit/figs, tobacco, rye bread, and other bready malts. Flavors follow same; a little sharper, with additional minerals and dry bitter malts.

A 33 cl bottle obtained on a family holiday through Europe. Using the favorite Trappistes Rochefort glass tonight, I pull the cap and pour. Dark caramel brown with little noticeable head. The scent is ripe fruit, candy and alcohol. I take a drink, toffee immediately, plums, raisins, malt, a touch of dough, oaky to a small degree and a boozy background and finish. The feel is surprisingly full for so little carbonation. Interesting beer, likeable, not great.

Bottle from Delhaize Dok Noord. Cloudy black, stable, frothy, beige head. Aroma of burnt fudge & marshmallow, fondant, liquorice, cappuccino, black olive, teriyaki, brownie, whisky. Taste has sweet date & fig in a milk-chocolatey, dark fudge-like malt body with a subtle hint of burnt marshmallow, bitter liquorice & coffee and umami teriyaki. Earthy hops in the finish, some phenolic liquorice, bitter fondant & coffee and boozy (cheap) whisky-like alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. The marshmallow is only adjunct to the core profile of a relatively clean, roasty Stout. Very nice surprise!

A different label, a different ABV, as of the time of this sampling. Quite all right, I do enjoy trying quadrupels. I have a 33 cl bottle delivered to me from one of my Belgian retailers. Opening now before tilting into a Chimay glass, the view is mahogany brown topped with a steady, creamy head of parchment colored foam. I smell ripe fruit, yeast and grain. A full drink, I think there is a good start to this tasting. Whole grain bread, figs, raisins, malt and red cherries lending a limited touch of sourness to the taste. A small sweetness and certainly a dense sensation. A traditional approach to quads, certainly I see plenty to like.

28/IX/22 - 33cl bottle from my cellar, shared @ home, BB: 26/IV/22, bottled: 26/IV/19, lot: 20180009, aged for 12M on a jenever barrel (2022-1331)
Clear dark brown to black beer, big aery irregular light beige to light brown head, falls down rather quickly, a bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of CO2, dark roast, soy sauce, pretty oxidized, lots of alcohol, sourish impression, malty, phenols, overripe banana, dried fruits, chocolate notes, raisins, a bit earthy, pretty nice actually. I knew it was a good move to age this alcoholic bastard for a while. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet and rather sugary start, lots of caramel, some dark chocolate, very gentle roast, alcohol, some bitter, cocoa powder, a bit sourish, more alcohol, caramel, phenols, overripe banana, sweet touch. Aftertaste: some hop bitterness (yes, still!), gentle roast, cocoa powder, dried fruits, caramel, yeasty, a bit oxidized, still very boozy, some chocolate, not bad, but a bit too boozy and maybe a tad too sweet. More of a boozy quad with a hint of stout, than a true BA RIS, but definitely not a bad attempt!
