Any brewer brewing an hommage to ’The Dude’ Lebowski deserves my respect. On top of that, a DIPA in a can. Can 33cl, BB 14/09/2013. Cuivrée léger trouble, col épais blanc cassé crémeux. Arôme est houblonné avec des notes d’amertumes américaines; pin et agrume ponctuées d’un malt caramel qui reste bien présent. Le tout accompagné par un léger côté herbacé feuilles vertes. Palais offre un très beau bouquet houblonné, alternant pamplemousse et autres agrumes pour une amertume conséquente mais qui ne nuit pas au développement de la bière. Le niveau d’alcool finit par se ressentir sans pour cela être trop dérangeant. L’accent reste néanmoins sur le malt aux accents caramel. Un bel exemple du style, parfait en cannette et à redécouvrir plus frais.

Bouteille 33cl du Grain d’Orge, Crissier. BB 12/12/2013. Brune, col épais crémeux café au lait. Arôme malté, caramel sucré presque de toffee suivi de notes chocolat-cara. Complexe sans pour cela laisser trop de place aux houblons. Palais est malté, caramel avec un profil agréable rappelant le café au lait suivi d’une amertume légère. Le houblon rajoute une pointe de citronné qui arrive plus en fin de bouche et est accompagnée ^par un côté pouvant laisser penser à du lactose. Au final, le profil chocolat au lait domine et reste assez sec de par une balance malt-grains conséquente.

Bouteille 33cl du Grain d’Orge, Crissier. BB 29/01/2014. Dorée sur un trouble léger, col blanc crémeux. Arôme est herbacé, feluri pointe d’épice avec un retrait de coriandre subtile surtout au niveau rétro-nasal. Le tout garde une abondance de feuilles de vertes avec cette pointe d’agrumes. Palais est houblonné assez noble dans une tradition est-européenne. Note herbacée pour un palais sec sur qcq notes de grains-malt; cara-pils. Une bière de style pils revue à la hausse qui garde l’approche typique du style mais restant facile à boire tout en changeant des bières industrielles. Fini houblonné, vert et fleuri.

33cl bottle, the Crown Royal of Hobo beers? Hell yes. BB 12/03/2014. Cuivrée-ambrée, col épais crémeux café au lait. Arôme garde une présence optimale de malt-caramel oscillant sur la drêche. De ce fait, le bouquet houblonné reste un peu en retrait. Garde néanmoins ce côté Nelson Sauvin appréciable suivi d’un rétro-nasal agrumes très américain. Palais au caractère malté-caramel agréable. Houblonné entre fleuri et fruité sur notes d’agrumes. Le Nelson ajoute ce côté groseille typique. Le malt - et grains finissent par dominer la fin de bouche. Cette dernière adopte dès lors un profil léger farineux accompagné d’une pointe d’épice - seigle?

Deep blond color, clear, with small head. Beery aroma, with light esters from the yeast, not necessarily fruity. Some beer character, some cheap white wine, boozy, medium sweetness, with moderate bitterness, drier final, with a vegetable impression.
A bit chaotic, not very pleasant.

Correct body, the mouthfeel is lean; strong flavor of dark caramel, a touch of chocolate, but with a oily feeling; strong bitterness, some hard resins from the hop, and a terreux impression; very light whiskey trace; warming but not boozy. Some rhubarb candies.

Can thanks to Bruce. It pours hazy amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is earth, pine, varnish, caramel, toasted brown bread and stewed orange. The taste is earth, caramel, wood, varnish, leaf, toasted grass, orange, marmalade and a touch of spice with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent enough.

Can thanks to Bruce. It pours pale gold with a small white head. The nose is mellow.... pine, orange, tangerine, apricot, juicy peach and cloudy lemonade. The taste is smooth, juicy orange, tangerine, peach, straw, hay and light bitterness with a dry finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth and massively drinkable. Good summer beer.

Can at Bruce’s - London. Another Swiss whale, thanks to Bruce. Pours hazy amber with a foamy, off-white head. Nose of ripe berries, some dank citrus, brown bread. Medium sweet flavor, some dry brown bread, a bit of pine, some dirt and earth, ripe oranges. Medium bodied with fine, lightly creamy carbonation. Light dry pine to finish, very fine resinous quality, further ripe citrus, some toasted grass. Alright.
