Can at Bruce’s, London. Big thanks to Bruce! Swiss whale. Pours cloudy yellow with a fine, creamy white head. Tangy melon and tangerine in the nose, light plastic. Light sweet flavor, mellow bitter lemon rind, some hay, lightly dried pale malts. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Light sticky citrus finish, faint pine needles, melon, tangerine. Tasty.

Bottle. Gusher. Cloudy amber brown color, huge beige head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of lightly spiced raw brown bread dough. Taste is rich, chewy rising bread, caramel, spice. Not very lager-like.

Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier; bb 18 Mar 2014
Dark amber color, clean, with medium sized compact head. Caramel aroma, a bit perfumy, lightly metallic. Highly carbonated, with dry mouthfeel; caramel flavor with dusty character (terreux); quite bitter, with some liquorice in the final; it also has some yeast flavor that is out of place.
A bit messy.

Black color, with small sized creamy head. Strong aroma of roasted malt, some ashes, pond water. Dry mouthfeel; lean roasted malt flavor, with some dark caramel, some dust, correct bitterness; it has too much yeast for a Schwarz.
A bit chaotic.

Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier, bb 28 July 2013
Deep blond color, hazy, with small head. The aroma is a bit strange; there is some malt, coriander, almonds, plastic, light fruit. The mouthfeel is quite dry, there is some malt and spices, but also some plastic; correct bitterness.
Not too bad, but there are some off flavors from the fermentation.

Can, from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier, bb 11 Oct 2013
Blond color, just hazy, with medium sized frothy head. Mild aroma of citrusy hops. The mouthfeel is light and very dry; there is some flavor of crispy malt, although very light, with strong bitterness and a good hopping; lots of hop resins, and some citrus fruits. Very dry final.
Very pleasant in the summer, but the fruity touch is very limited.

2013-06-24, draught at La Bossette, Lausanne, 8-4-8-5-16=41
Dark amber color with small head. Nice caramel aroma and some hop; compared to Hobo, more caramelly; hint of crystal. Good body strength; semi-sweet caramel flavor, with good hopping, more aromatic, fruity and resiny than the Hobo.
Very good, balanced.
2013-06-24, can, from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier, bb 14 Sept 2013, 7-5-8-3-15=38
Bright amber color with medium sized compact head. The aroma is a nice blend of sweet caramel and orangey hops, with a peppery final. Good body strength; caramel flavor with moderate residual sweetness; it has a good component of biscuits/cookies; strong hopping, with pleasant resins and decent fruity touch; long final.
Dominant caramel, therefore more American Strong than the self defined Double IPA.
Good and clean beer.

Bottle at La Bossette, Lausanne, bb 25 Apr 2014
Blond color with medium sized head. Light aroma, not as hoppy at it should be. Dry mouthfeel, quite light too but not too weak; some malt and hop, but again, I’ve had better ones; strong bitterness.
Too simple, not enough aromatic.
