Cask @ Smithfield Market Tavern, Manchester. Deeper golden with a bubbly head. It has an acute sugary nose, with a sugary-malty taste.

Handpull cask at BeerHeadZ, Grantham. Mid golden and clear as a bell. Pretty white head resting on top. Notes of pine and tropical fruit with a hint of masala and a metallic note. Taste is much cleaner: bittersweet and spicy with an overripe citrus flavour running through. Finish is dry, and there’s a note of coconut in the aftertaste. I’m not the greatest on hop identification but this tastes like it’s got a fair share of Sorachi Ace and I’m one of those people who’s funny about Sorachi. Still, this beer certainly defied expectations. A drinkable and somehow defiantly English IPA, like White Shield on bath salts.
