0,5 l bottle, now brewed at Privat-Brauerei Zötler. Pours out dark golden, one finger white head. Very low grain on the nose. Starts with low grain, little bit sweetness, later low bitter sequences. A typical bavarian Helles, easy to drink, not really bad, but nothing special.

0,5 l bottle. Backside label: Brewed and bottled at Privat-Brauerei Zötler. Pours out in a dark brown, small head. Malty on the nose. Taste is mid dark malty, sweetness in the middle part, dry and lower sweetness in the end. Not really complex. Easy to drink, easy to forget.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines and drunk at home. Clear pale gold lasting thick white head. Tasty easy drinking Helles. No faults, very clean. Some lemon. Very pleasant. Creamy palt malt aroma. Good carbonation. Lovely I thought.

Bottled. Goldeny amber colour with a mediumsized creamy white head. Aroma is banana, wheat, herbs, spices and some citrusy notes. Flavour is citrus, banana, some spices, wheat, grains and a mild toffeeish touch as well.

Schön dunkelgold im Glas, würzig-malziger Geruch. Der Antrunk ist vollmundig-süßlich und leicht erdig. Der Hauptteil ist noch einen kleinen Tick mehr erdig-würzig und schön angenehm muffig. Leider keine Röstmalzanklänge vorhanden. Im Nachgeschmack kommt eine angenehme Herbe hinzu, die den etwas mufffig-modrigen Charakter dieses Bieres noch etwas unterstreicht. Auf der Zunge verbleibt eine angenehm süßlich-würzige Note, gepaar mit einem angenehm herb-muffigen Ton!

Ein schönes Durcheinander: im Netz finde ich die „Postbrauerei Allgäu“ (verantwortlich: Herbert Zötler), die „Privat-Brauerei Zötler“ (verantwortlich: Herbert Zötler) und die „Postbrauerei Karl Meyer Nesselwang“ (deren Logo, abgesehen von der Ortsangabe im Schriftzug, mit dem der „Postbrauerei Allgäu“ identisch ist). Hier liegen die Besitz- und Brauverhältnisse auf den ersten Blick etwas im Unklaren. Genauere Recherche ergab, daß die Postbrauerei Nesselwang von Zötler übernommen und in Postbrauerei Allgäu umbenannt wurde (Quelle: Zötler Post Nr. 82/2010). Ob seitdem alle oder manche Postbrauerei-Biere auch bei Zötler gebraut werden, ist unklar. - Aber nun zum Bier: Tiefes Kastanienbraun mit rötlichem Schimmer. - Nase röstmalzig-nussig. - Antrunk mild karamelwürzig, schwach süß, leicht aber deutlich röstmalzig. Leicht kremiges Mundgefühl, durchschnittlich rezent. Schwach gehopft. Deutlich röstmalzbitterer Abgang. - Sehr harmonisches, nicht allzu kräftiges aber süffiges Dunkles. - Vom Faß im Restaurant Aquila, Füssen (24.4.2014). ===== According to the brewery newsletter Zötler Post (no. 82/2010), the former Postbrauerei Karl Meyer Nesselwang was acquired by Privat-Brauerei Zötler and re-named in Postbrauerei Allgäu. However, it remains unclear if their beers are brewed by Zötler now.
