Description
Heineken España started its operations in Spain in 1984. In that year the Madrilenian brewery of El Águila, founded in 1900, was acquired. The next year Heineken El Alcázar, founded in 1928, was acquired. As usual by Heineken the brand wasn't brewed for many years, but it was reintroduced in 2019. It is brewed in Jaén. In 2000 the major merger of Heineken España and Cruzcampo took place. Cruzcampo was founded in Seville in 1904 by Roberto and Tomás Osborne Guezala. The brand has 4 breweries in Madrid, Jaén, Valencia and Seville. The latter city has been home to a brand new factory since 2008, which replaces the old 1904 brewery.

Drunk at Con Limón y Sal Caletillas after a trio of small tacos and a Michelada. Now we're trying some chili con carne nachos. Amber, small head, lightly caramel-malty and super cold. Tasty earthy hop finish. Pretty good as these lighter beers go.

330ml can. Light clouded gold with small white top which recedes. Aroma of toasted malt, slightly grainy with a hint of smokiness. Taste again has a grain note and somewhat sweeter than expected from the aroma. Quite malty with some bitter grassiness in the finish. Enough bitterness to balance. Very basic although the ABV gives it some body.
