Description
Heineken España started its operations in Spain in 1984. In that year the Madrilenian brewery of El Águila, founded in 1900, was acquired. The next year Heineken El Alcázar, founded in 1928, was acquired. As usual by Heineken the brand wasn't brewed for many years, but it was reintroduced in 2019. It is brewed in Jaén. In 2000 the major merger of Heineken España and Cruzcampo took place. Cruzcampo was founded in Seville in 1904 by Roberto and Tomás Osborne Guezala. The brand has 4 breweries in Madrid, Jaén, Valencia and Seville. The latter city has been home to a brand new factory since 2008, which replaces the old 1904 brewery.

Golden colour with almost no head. Taste is hoppy and grainy, and ends watery. Well, dont be to picky when its 35 degrees in the sun.

Pale metallic gold with good, very dense snowwhite head, retreating with some lace. Quite grassy, bit of mannah, and other chemists’ vegetable preparations. Maybe even some malt. Metallic, slightly bitterish and again a bit grassy. There seems to be an anorganic-mineral content too - not kitchen salt, something else. Even some toiletries product. Watery and sharp-metallic at the same time. Unsatisfactory, poor lager. "Pilsen" in this context is a curse - EU ought to forbid that.

Bottled (BB 07/2007)
Clear amber color, nice beige head, lace. Caramelly, grassy hoppy and woody aroma. Sticky alcohol over the caramelly malty flavor. Late bitterness. Some toffee in the aftertaste. Not very Belgian ale -like, more like a lager (Vienna). No yeasty notes found here.
