Bomber from Sloth from 2011 Barrel # 11/20. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, light bourbon, and oak. pitch black with a small cinnamon-tan head. Flavor is rich lightly sweet chocolate, lots of vanilla, and hints of bourbon. Excellent stuff, wish I had a case! Kind of like a less sweet Black Tuesday.

7.4/10 β€” Appearance 8 Aroma 8 Flavor 7 Texture 6 Overall 7.5

Location: Draft at Arundal Mills Brewpub, 5/28/12

Aroma: The nose has lots of rye whiskey, chocolate, and coffee
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small light brown head
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, lots of whiskey and chocolate flavors
Palate: The body is full, with a creamy, slightly chalky feel, and some medium heat
Overall Impression: This one is interesting for sure. It's not too sweet, but still a lot of chocolate, and the rye whiskey flavor is prominent and clear as well. This was a nice one the get to try.

7.4/10 β€” Appearance 6 Aroma 8 Flavor 7 Texture 8 Overall 7.5

Location: Draft at Arundal Mills Brewpub, 5/28/12

Aroma: Nose of fruit, candied sugar, malts, earth, and booze
Appearance: Pours amber in color, clear, with a small head and no lace
Flavor: Taste is sweet and boozy, similar to the nose component wise
Palate: The body is fullish, with quite a lot of heat from the 14%
Overall Impression: This one is not exactly easy drinking, but still, for 14%, this one does a decent job of hiding the booze enough to make it still drink like a beer.

Location: Nitro at Arundal Mills Brewpub, 5/28/12

Aroma: Has a roasted malt nose, with a good amount of coffee
Appearance: This one has a clear brown pour and a lasting nitro head
Flavor: It has a roasted malt flavor with some dry coffee, it is fairly un-sweet overall
Palate: This one is smooth and creamy, with a nitro feel, and a medium-plus body
Overall Impression: I liked this one. It has a nice porter flavor, and it works well on nitro. It has a good feel to it as well.

7.4/10 β€” Appearance 6 Aroma 8 Flavor 7 Texture 8 Overall 7.5

Location: Draft at Arundal Mills Brewpub, 5/28/12

Aroma: Sweet caramel/toffee and chocolate, plus lots of nuts on the nose
Appearance: It pours a clear light brown-amber color, small off-white head, and light lace
Flavor: The taste is much like the nose, sweet and nutty from the malts
Palate: This brew is medium bodied, it has a pretty nice feel, and drinks easily as well
Overall Impression: I found this one to be a very solid, sweet and nutty brown. The components are on target for the style, and that style is well done. It has a strong flavor profile.

6.8/10 β€” Appearance 8 Aroma 7 Flavor 6 Texture 8 Overall 6

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 11/11/12

Aroma: The nose is fairly citrusy, some orange/tropical fruit, and some floral notes
Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark orange color with a bubbly beige head
Flavor: The taste is lightly sweet, not as fruity as the nose, with a hoppy bitterness on the finish
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth feel to it, an average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I think the nose of this one performs better in the bottle one draft, but otherwise, I think the draft score was just about right.
3.3: 7/4/6/4/12

Location: Draft at Arundal Mills Brewpub, 5/28/12

Aroma: The nose is fairly light, with a little orange, some earth, and malt
Appearance: It pours a clear orange, with a lasting beige head, and heavy lace
Flavor: This one tastes malty mostly, with a light citrus fruit presence, it is not too sweet or bitter
Palate: This one has a light-medium body, it is a touch watery, and fairly smooth/creamy on the mouth
Overall Impression: Overall, I found this to be bit dull, but still a decent pale ale. Not too hop forward, and with only a decent flavor profile, but it is quite smooth and creamy with a good look as well.

Location: Draft at Arundal Mills Brewpub, 5/28/12

Aroma: This one has a big grapefruit and grass nose
Appearance: It has a cloudy golden pour, white head, mid plus lace
Flavor: This one tastes light sweet, mid-plus bitter/hoppy
Palate: Medium bodied with a creamy feel, a soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought that this one was a solid, but not top of style DIPA. Another very solid offering from DuClaw, one of many beers from this trip that fit that description.

Bomber from Whole Foods Market Fair Lakes. Pours a clear rust color with a medium sized fizzy tan head that fades quickly. Spices dominate the aroma, citrus and nutmeg, with some apple and toffee notes. The taste is apple, spices, caramel, nutty notes and an herbal hop finish. Medium bodied. Not liking this too much.
