1 Kendall Square brewpub's last day of service was December 20, 2024, as Phil Bannatyne (owner) retired. Brand was sold to Castle Island Brewing (Norwood, MA) who will produce the brewery's more iconic beers.

Brewery draught, 5/16/23. Heavily hazy, murky, muted bronze. Small, white head, moderate retention. White 🍷 ne, some earth and mineral, maybe a touch of popcorn. Cracker and honey-like malts, no pine or resin. Juicy, mega white wine, citrus peel bitterness, soft honey-like malts. It's a one trick pony on the wine but that is my favorite expression of these hops so it's endearing. Gets a bit acidic/piney/bitter on the finish despite the well-done maltiness.

Brewery draught, 5/16/23. Clear prickly pear juice. No head. Woah that's wild. Cardamom adds a minty fresh note but the juicy prickly pear doesn't allow it to get dominant or too acidic. Lime rounds things out. Minty, juicy, cactus, spicy. Weird as shit but that was inevitable here. Lighter body, but still enough. Definitely a good dryness. Cardamom is ambitious but not astringent or too dominant. Maybe could still be dialed back a touch more, though. Clean.

Brewery draught, 5/16/23. Clear bronze-brass, small, white head to ring. Paw-paw, light vanilla, honeydew, lilac, weird! But compelling. Soft, fragrant, clean, unique. I guess there's gotta be apricot and peach mentioned. Def not a cookie cutter saison yeast character but no crude phenols. Soft, malty, honey and biscuit with strong apricot and white peach and a bit of mild white pepper. Lovely malt depth and attenuation, tending malty with rich honey and strong spice lingering. No crutch of using a bunch of hops or Brett here. Just all lovely yeast and malt.

Brewery draught, 5/16/23. Rich mango-butterscotch. Completely opaque. Small, off-white head immediately to wisp. Apricot and string but well-done vanilla are prominent at first. Definitely some other juice behind it. Not getting much hop and malt seems biscuity and mostly in the background as well. Soft, fruity, good acidity from fruit with hop bitterness though no sense of actual hop character. Vanilla and apricot are prominent and something more acidic lingering. Soft, malty, well-attenuated, lots of juice and malt but always balancing with acid/bitterness. Soft texture. Clean.

Cask at JDW The Holland Tringham, Streatham (26/03/2023) - JDW Spring Fest 2023 - toasted and sweet malty with notes of caramel, fudge, soft cask carb and medium body, piney herbal hoppy bitter finish. Ok.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2023. Deep gold in colour with a slight, off-white, head. Full bodied IPA, with citrus hops, ripe tangerine fruits, pine resin, chew malts and a boozy, drying, finish. Good to see a traditional brewery producing a solid USA IPA.

Brewery draught, 4/1/23. Clear, blonde brass. White head to ring. Smells like plants. Pepper, Idk, I hate this bland, boring hop. Same in the mouth. Malty and such with pine, plant bitterness, woodiness, blandness. Good beer, bad hop.

Brewery draught, 4/1/23. Clear bronze-brass. Small, white head, low retention. Bread and sourdough, herbal hops galore. Clean with honey. Rich lager yeast. Clean and malty, very crisp and herbal but not too bitter. Great attenuation with lingering pepper. Low abv, could be a TOUCH maltier, but a nitpick.

Brewery draught, 4/1/23. Clear amber-raspberry. No head. Very deeply herbal with a spicy savory mintiness. Hint of acetic, rich malts. Love the rosemary. Soft, juicy, acetic, Brett and vanilla. Lingering vanilla, oxidation, juicy herb.

Brewery draught, 4/1/23. Clear bronze. Low head. Acetic maybe, or more berry acidity. Definite lactic character. Soft, juicy, lightly acetic. Vanilla, vague berry acidity. Nothing too complex but balanced, tart, juicy, oaky and flavorful.
