Poured from 473mL can (Oct 14, 2025). Dark brown with minimal beige head. Mild milk chocolate with an okay bourbon underlay, fairly thin. The barrel treatment is okay, but the base beer is lacking.

On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours a clear deep dark amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma is pretty timid, with earthy toasted malt and subdued hoppy bitterness underneath. Flavour is rather muted and garbled, with toasted malt, earthiness, dry tepid hops, and a dull bready finish. Not hopped enough, not malted enough, not balanced skillfully. I want to applaud this black (okay, dark) IPA, but this just isn’t up to scratch.

On tap at St. Augustine's. Pours murky brown with a beige head. Light resins and malt on the nose. Flavour has resins, soft brown bread malts; some tangy hops that do not work well with the dark malts. Very little bite. I like the resins, but the hop choice is odd for the style and everything seems very timid; a toothless black IPA.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with short tan head that settles quickly. Aromas of alcohol and some roasted malts with maybe a bit of chocolate. Flavors of cherrywood, dark chocolate, booze and roasted malts. Not getting any bourbon barrel with the exception of alcohol. Disappointing for a barrel aged stout.

Medium brown, thin head. Looks like a 6% porter tbh. It’s boozy af, that’s the dominant character, with kind of a cocoa powder note. Definitely dry for the style, lacks the sugars I like. It really does come across like that 6% porter with a bunch of random extra booze in it. Unbalanced.

On tap at Rewind, pours a red-tinged dark brown with a small beige head—looks pretty thin. Aroma is pretty restrained, with gentle cocoa and toasted malt—not getting the barrels. Flavour is much the same, with toasted malt, soft bourbon, and some cocoa. There’s a nice lingering woodiness from the barrels. The body is pretty thin, and the beer lacks complexity; but the construction is actually okay and the barrels elevate this reasonably well.

On tap at Rewind, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals grapefruit peel, some resinous hops, and bready malt. Flavour is full of bitter grapefruit peel, some resinous hops, earthiness, and some sweetness. Poorly balanced and integrated; just doesn’t come together.

On tap at Rewind, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma reveals a lot of spicy ginger peel—like a dirty chunk of ginger that hasn’t been peeled or washed. Flavour is a little cleaner, but still pretty earthy/dirty, with little actually ginger slice and more of the peel that you usually want to discard. Not very satisfying.

On tap at Rewind, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma has soft floral hops and toasted biscuity malt. Flavour is surprisingly harsh on the hop content, with perfumey floral notes and soft straw. I expected a softy hopped pale, but there’s some abrasiveness going on here. Not great.
