14/IV/2012 - 27.5cl bottle @ home - BB: XI/12 (2012-352) Thanks to Thomas and Annelies for the bottle!

Aroma: sweet corn, grains, bit of hay. Clear light yellow beer, small steady head, unstable, bit adhesive. MF: soft carbon, light body, watery texture. Taste: wet grains, some vegetables, hint of bitter hops, bit sweet. Aftertaste: watery and a touch of hops. Not exactly a frighting snake bite...

March 2011: Clear 275ml bottle, best before the end of Dec 2011, obtained by my parents on a recent Caribean Criuse. Poured into my ’La Chouffe’ stemmed tulip glass. Looked the part, a true/typical lager/pilsner, golden, bright, clean and clear, on top a good head of white foam. The smell was of cheap lager, reminded me of Caribean holidays of the past. Wet cardboard and citrus fruits came to mind also. The taste was mildly citrus, not unpleasant, but not what I want from an exotic island brewery. Might have been the greatest thing on earth if I’d been sat in the sun surrounded by sand, sea and bikini’s. Sadly I was in Shropshire and it was dark and cold outside. Not a huge body mass, but enough to carry the flavours within. Not a UK winters brew, but OK in the correct enviroment I should imagine.

From notes. Bottle in Vieux Fort, paired with spicy chicken. Thirst quenching and easy to drink, but a bit on the watery side. Acceptable, given the local conditions.

Lemon rind with some faint corn and a slight grainy feel. A touch of tartness actually makes the taste surprisingly tolerable.

Thanks to decaturstevo for hauling this gem back from Barbados. It is debatable if he should be thanked for bringing it to the tasting at my house, however! Thin yellow color, very clear and weak with a tiny white head. The aroma is one of corn grain and stomach acid. Almost no flavor but there is a papery dryness to the palate. Like sucking on a piece of felt. Yes, I’ve probably had worse, but this is pretty lacking.

Lugged this back from Barbados after the my rugby tour there. Always have to be weary of beers in clear bottles. When will brewers learn? Pours a transparent light yellow with a white head that settled to a thin ring. The oxidized aroma is prevalent from several feet away. Up close, it’s even mustier. Flavor is only slight sweet malt, some grass and hay with no hop flavor at all. Finish is completely watery, not crisp at all. Hey, when you come back from Belgium you bring abbey beers. When you come back from the West Indies you bring pissy lagers.

Bottle. Clear pale golden colour with a white longlasting head. Malty and grassy aroma. Weak malty flavor and some hoppiness. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. Thanks to my mom for bringing it home from St Lucia.

In my first rating I said I wouldn’t care if I never drank it again...wtf? That would mean I didn’t care if I never went to St. Lucia. Screw that, I look forward to my next Piton because it will mean I’m back on that awesome island. Golden sparkly colour. The grassy aroma is tasty fresh; with a decent malt backbone. Herbal-malty character. Clean, not bad for a macro. It doesn’t have the staying power of, say, Beer Lao in that after six days in Lucia you get a little tired of it, but it’s inoffensive, fresh and has just enough bitterness to make it the swill of choice there.
