(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with gushing, off-white head, calming down after a while. Fruity, malty nose with apricots, orange, honey, toffee and flowers. Fruity, malty taste with notes of apricots, orange marmalade, honey, herbs and a slightly spritzy finish with a fairly low bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well balanced and tasty, slightly vinous, almost with a light mead character. Nice one.

Aroma has soapy apricot and mild spicy tones. Feels musty. Flavour has some peppery spices, mild chili burn, apricot and minerals. A bit messy but decent. Like a Belgian ale with spices.

Bottle at Birrivico, Como
Hazy light amber color with small head. High octane beer, lightly oily, not dissimilar from other Imperial Lagers; moderate sweetness, light malt flavor, timid hop qualities.
Drinkable, not exceptional.

Bouteille de 75cl, de Astral Beers, Bologna, BB 03/2016, lot#18. Ambrée trouble, col crémeux blanc-cassé. Arôme au bouquet citronné, léger houblonné avec un ajout agréable d’agrumes, provenant certainement de la bergamote. Pointe en rétro de poivre. Palais est herbacé et houblonné, agrumes assez moyenne. Note poivrée qui complémente le profil des houblons. La bière reste légère mais le profil de la levure empêche cette dernière de vraiment s’envoler. Le nom peut porter à confusion car je pensais que l’usage de Pacific Jade est le houblon utilisé, mais je n’en retrouve pas son profil ou alors il est mis en retrait par une levure et un malté trop encombrant. Le profil tend à prendre l’aspect d’une levure pâtissière.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head. The aroma is pepper and citrus. Medium mouth, fruity hop, pepper, light bitterness, decent.

Bouteille 75cl de Astral Beers, Bologna, BB 05/2016, lotto# 30, 5.3%. Dorée paille jaunâtre, col épais blanc qui retombe lentement. Arôme reste centré sur les grains vec une belle note d elevure surtout sur la mi-dégustation. Retrouve un bqouet adouci de la vanille avec un complément épicé plus présent sur la fin du poivre vert. Garde un côté herbacé et fruité agrumes - Pomello toujours avec ce petit fini poivré. Palais reste épais en bouche avec un bon accompagnement fruité d’agrumes mais aussi une pointe de pomme venant peut-être de la levure. Amertume reste moyenne et noble avec un léger fleuri et un accompagnement de vanille assez léger et en retrait et une fin de bouche qui conserve le caractère légèrement relevé du poivre vert. Malt reste quant à lui de type pils, pâle.

The pour is a hazy gold with an inch of foam.

I get an interesting range of aromas. A kind of tropical fruitiness with mango being the most notable. Some pineapple as well. Pepper? I don’t exactly what pink pepper brings to the table.

It doesn’t taste like it smells for the most part. The hop bitterness is on the harsh side. I get wee bits of the fruit and yes, there’s a peppery thing going on but the hop flavours need smoothing out.

Mouthfeel is okay.

Wow, if this tasted like it smelled, it would drink like a champion.

Some aroma of roasted malt and cigarette/cigar. The mouthfeel is drier than expected; some dark caramel, chocolate, smoke hint, medium to low bitterness, short final.
Simple.

Bottle. Caramel malt, pepper, and orange peel aroma. Murky orange-brown with small head. LIghtly sweet caramel malt, moderately strong pepper and herbal flavor. Pretty funky.
