Deep dark brown, near black, with a ruby tinge, a creamy / frothy tan head and roasted malt and a touch of dark fruit on the nose. Somewhat creamy, roasted malt, dark fruit and coffee bitterness nicely combined, finishes dry and bitter.

Cask at Paramount, Manchester (but have drunk it previously). Pours very dark reddish-brown with minimal foamy tan head. There’s roasted malts and hints of spice in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy but also some underlying bitterness and a rather watery texture. Flavour has roasted malts and coffee plus hints of dark fruits and chocolate. Some bitterness in a fruity finish. Reasonable enough but I wouldn’t call it a bitter. My records say Mild but not’s not quite right either. Maybe an Old Ale ?

Mersmak!
