Bottle from Asda. Clear amber/brown body with a beige head that holds quite well. Steady carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of wood, earth and brown sugar. Flavour of caramel and earthy hops. Thin to medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Light fizz. Earthy and moreish.

Mersmak!

Cask at the Spoons on Gracechurch. Deep golden colour in the glass and a real richness of flavour and mouthfeel. It was in perfect condition and I forgot how good this can be.

Cask at Cromwells, Shrewsbury. Pours “bitter brown” with a small cream head and good lacing. Malts to the fore in the aroma alongside some butter and cheesecake. In the mouth it is fairly sweet but with a little underlying bitterness. Flavour has malts and autumn fruits plus hints of oats, herbs and spice. Finish is slightly dry. This is a decent old school bitter.

Dark red brown with a delicate head that lasts. Dark berries, chocolate, dried fruit, melanoid accents, herbal notes. Rich, fruity sour, with notes of Old English Ale and even Barley Wine. Mega chocolate finish, a bit of earthiness and yellow. Great!
