Golden ale by Bottle Logic, a brewery more famously associated with elaborate (and often notably sweet, yet refined) strong stouts and barleywines, still quite coveted also here in Europe; thanks to tderoeck for sharing. Medium thick, snow white, opening head on a clear and pure yellow golden robe. Aroma of sweet vanilla-flavoured cookies, baked banana, orange flesh, honey, rambutan, fresh white bread, breakfast cereals. Clean onset, some dried banana and vague lychee notes, delicately sweet without sugariness, softishly carbonated with smooth, slick body; slender but pure pale malt sweetishness is perfumed with this sweet vanilla-like scent, again like fresh vanilla cookies, along with mild chamomile-like floral hops which provide only very soft bitterness. Uninhibitedly simple and straightforward, this is one I would never have associated with this brewery, but there is no denying that within its unassuming style, which is more about purity, elegance and efficiency than it is about complexity or innovation, this actually performs very well. Imagine drinking this for a whole evening - I cannot think of anything that could be wrong with that. It is 'just' a golden ale, but it is a damn good one - and in certain ways a very American one - in this category.

Tap at Borefts. Black. Brown sugar, rum, raisins indeed, alcohol, vanilla, candy. Very sweet, boozy bitter. Full bodied, quite boozy

On tap at Borefts 2025. Clear gold colour lasting white head. Good hops. Clear clean. Lovely hop bite on the finish. My recurring drink tomorrow when ive given up.

Stark malziger, weich herber Beginn, viel Kaffee, alkoholische Tendenzen. Spritzig, vollmundig, der Alkohol stört zum Ende. Langer Nachhall. 10/12/8/12//11

Süßer, karamellig malziger Beginn. Leichte Süße, weiche Herbe, trocken, nussig. Unsüffig. 9/10/9/9//9
