Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Deep but rather hazy gold with a moderate, long lasting white head. Strong bitter lemon and orange up front with a light but pleasant balancing caramel. Very long lasting fresh piney hop finish that gets quite floral. Definitely more an APA than a golden if you’re bothered about such distinctions. This is pretty good actually, and the more I drank the more I liked it. Yum.

Cask at the counting house. Pours hazy pale gold, thin white head. Aromas of dusty hop pellets, light citrus. Taste is thin, light bitter. Forgettable.

Cask gravity at the Watford beer fest 2014. Amber coloured pour with a lasting loose greyish head. Aroma is sweet berry and raisin dried fruit and nutty malts. Flavour is nutty toffee malts with nice dried fruits and fruitcake, lingering raisin. Palate is medium full, semi sweet and moderate carbonation. Tasty enough.

Slightly hazy golden beer with a creamy head. Not much aroma. Flavour is light citrus fruit with an almost banana-y hint. Feels creamy in mouth and leaes a light, pleasant bitter hop taste on the tongue.

Cask at the crosse keys city. Aroma is nice fruity hop with tangerine, peach and lemon. Bit of floral character on the nose as well. Clear golden coloured pour with a loose lasting white head. Flavour is clean base malt, fruity peach and tangerine hop with a little grassy note in the back. Palate is medium light, moderate cask condition. Well brewed beer, clean cal ale ferment let’s the hips do the talking. More like an APA.

Cask at the Bankers Draft, Bedford. Of course I’m going to like something called the Simcoe Kid. And pumpclips never lie... do they? A respectable white head hovers over a dark gold liquid. Apple, peach, fabric conditioner on the nose. Definitely Simcoe. The taste is sweet and soft, with only a gentle tempering bitterness. More peach, almost Fuzzy Navel-esque. Mouthfeel is a bit too watery. This is good, though. Surprisingly good.

Cask at the Victoria Station Spoons - London. Pours clear gold with a foamy white head. The aroma has some grassy hops, straw, lemon and tangerine, light bready pale malts. Light sweet flavor with dry pale malts, slight grains, dried flowers and grass, lemon rind, hay. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Decent bitterness on the finish, more grass, some dirty pine needles, more rind, balancing pale malt sweetness. Good little golden.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Cask. Lightly hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry. Nice level of crispness. Light smooth pale malts. Pleasant light floral notes. Good orangey and lemon citric hops backed by a little yellow grapefruit. Peel bitterness in the semi dry finish. Peel bitter linger. Well hopped and very drinkable.
