Pours near black with a small, frothy tan head, and a big hit of vanilla on the nose. Relatively thin-bodied with a slightly fizzy mouthfeel, hints of chocolate apparent alongside the vanilla and lightly roasted malt, gives it a sweet and mellow taste, with some slight bitterness in the finish

Can entitled 'Continental Lager' at 3.5% and back to a black and white tin. Still in production. Pours a pale gold, small frothy head and some retention. Aroma of grain and light malts. Typical grainy lager taste, some sweetness but not as much as most. Watery finish. Poor but there are worse out there.

Creamy off white head stayed on a light amber coloured still body. Malt & yeast aroma. Medium to thin bodied, sharp on the tongue with cloying back. Bitter fruity tastes with tea, spice & malt followed by a long tangy finish. Quaffer

Bottle from Morrison’s. Calling the best of anything is a bit of an exaggeration. Amber colour with a white head. Malty citrus aroma. Slightly sweet to light bitter taste. Not much going on.

Can. Now a dark green tin, and called “Lager Continental Beer”. Still 3.5%. Clear gold. Thin, reasonably dense, lasting, white head. Nose has sweet grain. Glue. Tinned vegetables. Taste is light sweet, with some papery, metallic bitterness. Light body. Lively carbonation. Short, fairly dry finish. Crap, but cheap, and there are definitely worse ones out there.

Deep gold in colour, with a thin, white, head. A Swedish beer, with a hint of floral character, skunky edge, ripe malts and a moderately bitter finish. Not so good.

Bottle. Golden in colour, with a rocky, white, head. Sweet, rich tea malts, a hint of tangerine character, leafy hops and a lingering, bitter, finish. Fine.
