Description
Rudgate Brewery was established in 1992. The brewery is situated at the heart of Yorkshire in the Vale of York. The original brewery was situated in the former ammunition building of RAF Marston Moor Airfield which was home to the Halifax bombers that helped defend our country during World War 2. The name comes from the old Roman road of `Rudgate’ which runs through the airfield. This road led the Vikings along our vale defeating the Romans in their steps. This road and its history is what instigated the main theme of Vikings for the brewery. The brewery expanded into a modern new facility in 2010/11 on the same site.

Cask @ The Waterhouse, Manchester. Clear golden with a thick creamy head. Hoppy, easy session brew, slipping down the palate well. Slightly metallic in its hoppiness.

Cask at Post Office Vaults, Brum. Certainly has a chocolatey aroma. Opaque darkest brown with a hint of a ruby tint. Thick foamy off-white head. Flava has cacao bitterness alongside a creamy drop. Berry sour edge. Light-medium bodied. Slick if thin..flat carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. OK.

Cask up the White Lady. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of light malt and lemon. Taste is more of the same. Bit boring for a festive special tbh.

Cask @ JDW Shrewsbury Hotel. Pours gold, white head. Curious sweet yeasty aroma, continues to taste, strange sweetness coming through that doesn't seem natural to the beer, underlying biscuity malt. Strange one. Couldn't finish.
