Cask at JDW, Ritz, Lincoln. Deep dark chestnut colour with an off white head. Aroma and taste are slightly overly sweet vanilla. Light body.

On cask. Appearance - deep brown to black with red chinks. No head. Very cola like. Nose - vanilla and coffee mainly. Taste - chewy caramel and vanilla. Palate - close to medium bodied, chewy sweet middle and finish. Overall - decent.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Mahogany hued with a thin flat head. Condition could be better. Lovely smooth vanilla up front, with cola and a light roast. Milk chocolate and blackberries emerge; I quite like the secret fruitiness in the background. The vanilla partially hides the fact that the body's a bit thin, but you do notice it after a while. Overall this is a pretty decent brew though.

Cask at Justice Mill, Aberdeen. It pours clear deep reddish - brown with a thick, khaki head. The aroma is fairly soft, sweet, mellow, vanilla, marshmallow, coffee with vanilla and toasty malts. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet character, toasty malt, earthy, nutty, coffee grounds, light tannin and dull vanilla with dry, roasty finish. Light+ body and well appointed carbonation. Thankfully vanilla is not too overpowering and is well integrated. Decent.

Cask at Standing Order, Derby (as Rudgate Vanilla Mild). Pours a dark reddish-brown with a medium sized cream head and good lacing. Vanilla to the fore in the aroma, along with some malts. In the mouth it is sweet, smooth and creamy. Malts and vanilla again as the flavour, plus some hints of dark fruits. A little ginger comes through later as well. Finish is slightly fruity. This is rather nice – plenty of flavour for its strength.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] A chestnut pour with a thin cream coloured head; vanilla aroma; malty taste with a little vanilla; and a light twiggy bitterness to finish. A pleasant mild with just the right amount of vanilla.
