Description
Oakshire is a is a community inspired small batch brewing company privately owned by the family and friends of our company’s founders. Oakshire operates a small, 4,000 square-foot production brewery in Northwest Eugene, as well as the Oakshire Public House in Eugene’s Whiteaker neighborhood and the Oakshire Beer Hall in the Concordia/Cully neighborhood in Northeast Portland.
Eugene was chosen as Oakshire’s location in part due to the accessibility of clean, soft water from the McKenzie River. Since 2013, Oakshire Brewing has partnered with our local land conservation group, the McKenzie River Trust. One percent of Watershed IPA sales revenue is set aside for the protection of local watersheds in the territories where the beer is sold, helping to preserve the clean water that is so vital to our community and our beer.

Dark brown. No head. It's a bit thick. Some toastiness, light coffee, a bit of bourbon. This has a nice good sweet malt, good vanilla, light caramel. It sits in a nice pocket between being burly and refined.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany / brown with a small beige head. Aroma is somewhat boozy, with whiskey barrels, some subtle winter spices, and dry toasted caramel. Flavour is full of whiskey barrels, toasted dry caramel, booze, and bready malt. Lots of whiskey barrels, booze and toasted caramel to finish. Excellent super-strong winter ale.

Very dark, no head. There's a lot of mint on this, some chocolate. It comes across strong on the nose. On the palate it does the peppermint chocolate thing quite well, actually. The stout is rich enough, with bitterness and dark chocolate. The mint is still powerful, but I remain conflicted with this combination. I mean, it's hilarious to put this in Heaven Hill, but at the same time I think the barrel lends the right elegance to this. So it seems to sit at the high end of what one can do with this.

Poured from 473mL can. Black with no head. Earthy mint, chocolate, some feint woodiness in the background, not a ton of bourbon here, decent.

Pours black. Aroma a lot of dark chocolate and some mint and candy. Dark chocolate, notes of peppermint and boozy warmth. Wonderfully well-blended. Fantastic.

16 oz. can, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma is loaded with peppermint bark, bourbon barrels, some cocoa, and and woody oak. Flavour is extremely rich, with intense peppermint bark, cocoa, bourbon barrels, and dark sugars. So much peppermint, chocolate and bourbon. Man, this comes together beautifully. I was skeptical of a peppermint BA stout, but this is beautiful.
