Description
Oakshire is a is a community inspired small batch brewing company privately owned by the family and friends of our company’s founders. Oakshire operates a small, 4,000 square-foot production brewery in Northwest Eugene, as well as the Oakshire Public House in Eugene’s Whiteaker neighborhood and the Oakshire Beer Hall in the Concordia/Cully neighborhood in Northeast Portland.
Eugene was chosen as Oakshire’s location in part due to the accessibility of clean, soft water from the McKenzie River. Since 2013, Oakshire Brewing has partnered with our local land conservation group, the McKenzie River Trust. One percent of Watershed IPA sales revenue is set aside for the protection of local watersheds in the territories where the beer is sold, helping to preserve the clean water that is so vital to our community and our beer.

2024 vintage. 16 oz. can, pours jet black with a tiny head. Aroma is rich, with intense dark roast coffee, big maple syrup, and bourbon barrels. Flavour is very rich and sweet, with lots of maple syrup, coffee, and massive bourbon barrels. The maple syrup does induce quite a lot of sweetness, but it's tempered by the roast from the coffee and the booziness and depth from the bourbon. It's a bit brutal and over the top, but it's doubtless a tasty monster. Excellent.

1 pint bottle. Pours very dark brown with minimal tan head. Aroma has roasted grainy malts, solid rye whiskey, vanilla. Flavour has great rye whiskey, toasted malts, burnt caramel. Fantastic boozy beer; the rye whiskey comes through very well.

Dark brown, lots of nice molasses, good toasted barrel notes. On the palate, very American, lots of toasty accents, nice barrel character. Very light fruitiness, but a bit of chocolate, toffee, toasty, cashews...this has an excellent character.

22oz (thx, Matt!) @ Sales Force. Appearance: very dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: American oak, a bit boozy, caramel, toffee. Taste: thick body, nice sweetness, boozy, spicy rye, toasted barrel. A bit harsh. Overall: despite it requires some sophistication, it's a good one.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma is rich, with lots of brown sugar, plenty of whiskey barrels, some spicy rye, and dark dried fruits. Flavour is very rich, with lots of spicy rye whiskey barrels, big dark dried fruits, some syrupy caramel, and a touch of spicy earthiness. Syrupy thick palate, with lots of spicy rye whiskey and dark fruits on the finish. A tad on the brutal side, but it's got tons of depth. Excellent.

600mL bottle. Pours black with thin tan head. Aroma has bourbon barrels, roasted malt, chocolate, coconut. Flavour is similar; bourbon notes are strong. Could be a bit better integrated, but still quite good.

22oz (thx, Matt!) @ Phill's during Gene's visit. Appearance: very dark brown with dark beige head. Aroma: American oak, toasted barrel, sweetness, some dark fruits. Taste: along the same lines, quite thick, but it's also boozy and hot. Overall: pretty good, but it requires some sophistication and balancing works.

Dark brown. Walnut, soy sauce, and a big bourbon character. It's the same on the palate - toasty, soy sauce, nutty, and just a good complex all-round balance. Fairly boozy in the finish.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Black with small tan head. Woody bourbon, some mild dark fruits in the background, taste is better than the aroma, but quite boozy. Enjoyable Hellshire.
