Description
Oakshire is a is a community inspired small batch brewing company privately owned by the family and friends of our company’s founders. Oakshire operates a small, 4,000 square-foot production brewery in Northwest Eugene, as well as the Oakshire Public House in Eugene’s Whiteaker neighborhood and the Oakshire Beer Hall in the Concordia/Cully neighborhood in Northeast Portland.

Eugene was chosen as Oakshire’s location in part due to the accessibility of clean, soft water from the McKenzie River. Since 2013, Oakshire Brewing has partnered with our local land conservation group, the McKenzie River Trust. One percent of Watershed IPA sales revenue is set aside for the protection of local watersheds in the territories where the beer is sold, helping to preserve the clean water that is so vital to our community and our beer.

750mL bottle, pours a clear dark amber with a large beige head. Aroma has plenty of old oak, gentle wild yeast, and a touch of fruitiness. Flavour is very dry, with lots of old brett, bready malt, and plenty of dry oak. Carbonation is above average but fitting for the style, almost like a biere de champagne. Doesn't quite strike me as an authentic biere de garde, but the wild yeast and oak character are quite nice. Very good.

Hazy, darkish amber. It has a lot of head, but seems week. This is woody, bretty, it's got a touch of caramel to it. So brett, a bit of wood, and decent body.

Pint can. Pours an opaque/cloudy dark yellow with a medium sized foamy white head that has fair retention. The aroma is quite strong and distinct with pineapple and grapefruit. The taste, like the aroma, is all citrus. In addition to the pineapple and grapefruit noted in the nose there is also some lemons and guava in the taste. The palate is full and viscous with soft carbonation. Finishes long with a touch of lingering sour lemon. Overall: decent--Ten years ago this would have been state of the art, but today its somewhat ho-hum. Paired well with a domestic Swiss cheese

750mL bottle. Pours clear gold with large, fast-receding white head. Aroma has musty grape skins, wood, leather. Flavour is also quite musty with wild yeast, a bit of wine grape; very dry overall. Excellent dry wild ale, lots of musty, wild yeast well-incorporated into the beer.

Pale amber. Not much head on this. Aroma has a little bit of brett, and a little bit of orange. Grapes. Stone fruit. Mild tartness. Moderate fruitiness, finishing dry and a bit of woodiness. Relatively light body. Almost champagne-like. This is nice, I can see this getting better as it goes.

750mL bottle, pours a clear copper golden with a large, quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma has the character of a biere de garde, with plenty of old wood, musty brett, a touch of rose petals, and oak. Flavour is bone dry, with lots of old wood, buggy wild yeast, some musty brett, light rose petals, and a touch of oak. Very dry, harmonious bugs, and light oak on the finish. Very nice blend.

On tap at Portland taproom. Pours almost black with an off-white head. Aroma has lots of roasted bready malts. Flavour also has roasted bready malts with a burnt toffee finish. Not super exciting, but a solid porter.
