Description
Oakshire is a is a community inspired small batch brewing company privately owned by the family and friends of our company’s founders. Oakshire operates a small, 4,000 square-foot production brewery in Northwest Eugene, as well as the Oakshire Public House in Eugene’s Whiteaker neighborhood and the Oakshire Beer Hall in the Concordia/Cully neighborhood in Northeast Portland.

Eugene was chosen as Oakshire’s location in part due to the accessibility of clean, soft water from the McKenzie River. Since 2013, Oakshire Brewing has partnered with our local land conservation group, the McKenzie River Trust. One percent of Watershed IPA sales revenue is set aside for the protection of local watersheds in the territories where the beer is sold, helping to preserve the clean water that is so vital to our community and our beer.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Hazy deep gold with small white head. Mild brett, fairly dry and floral, feint hint of dank hops, hint of oak barrel, overall a touch subdued, but blends nicely. Decent.

750mL bottle. Pours murky light gold with a white head. Lots of Brett and musty funk on the nose. Flavour has Brett, oak barrels, some dusty funk, a gentle herbal character. Nice.

Bomber, 2023 vintage. Raspberry aroma with notes of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, oak and bourbon. Pours deep brown with a thin mocha brown head that has little retention and basically no lacing. Starts with rich chocolate, roasted malt and oak flavors as well as having rich, full body and silky smooth mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with raspberry, vanilla and bourbon flavors. Fantastic imperial stout reminiscent of a chocolate covered raspberry.

22oz bottle. Pours black with a minimal head. Lots of roasted malt, bourbon, and port on the nose. Flavour has a ton of boozy barrels and a nice malty base beer. The sweet characteristics of the bourbon, port, and rye work very well with the style. A bit rough around the edges, but very good.

Doesn't look like much - flat and dull brown and opaque. Massive barrel aroma jumps out of the glass...wood, rye, toast, and a whole lot of sticky syrupy goodness. On the palate, it does have a different character...still the big syrup and lots of barrel, but the barrel character is different, more molassesy from the rum. The beer has a slight chocolatey accent. The finish has a lot of bourbon, that big alcohol hits hard. But yet, the date-like richness of the sugars helps keep everything in balance. This is excellent.

16.9 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a few bubbles worth of head. Nose is decadent, with intense barrel character – loads of bourbon, secondary rum notes – dark sugars, a touch of toffee, and some booze. Flavour is remarkably complex, with plenty of rum barrels upfront, with the bourbon taking a backseat, along with plenty of sticky dark sugars, toffee, and bready caramel. Rich yet balanced and elegant, with nothing harsh whatsoever coming through on the rum. Lovely.

500mL bottle. Pours black with a minimal head. Tons of bourbon and rum barrels, a bit smokey, and grainy brown sugar on the nose. Flavour also has a strong barrel character with the rum coming out stronger than the nose, rich caramel sweetness, gently burnt. Very malty and chewy on the palate. This is excellent.

10 years old! 22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma seems a bit muted, with subtle bourbon barrels, and cocoa. Flavour retains the barrel, with plenty of bourbon barrels, some earthiness, and toasted malt. This is definitely a bit past its prime, but it’s reasonably done.

Dark brown. Not much head. The aroma has a fruity accent, with a bit of dark sugar notes. Gentle alcohol, some crackery notes. It's decent, not something that's done well with age, but hasn't necessarily downgraded either.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Very dark brown with small beige head. Slight fruitiness per the export style, gentle dry roast quality, feint bourbon note. Decent for an export stout, especially at 10 years old.
