Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a cloudy golden amber with a small frothy off-white head and good lacing. There’s oranges and floral hops in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy with floral hops to the fore. Plenty of citrus and tangerine with just a trace of lime. Hints of spice and nuts come later. Sweetness lasts into the finish. This is decent.

On tap at a pizzeria in Liverpool. Hazy golden body with a thin, persistent white head. Aroma: intense ripe mango upfront, supported by subtle passion fruit and a hint of pineapple. Flavor: light-bodied and slightly watery with juicy mango leading the way. Notes of tropical fruit – passion fruit and pineapple. Bitterness is minimal, with only a faint touch in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel: soft and easy-drinking.

Cask at Cornerhouse, Chester. Pours a dark (almost very dark) reddish-brown with a medium sized foamy cream head. The aroma is mainly roasted malts with hints of lactose and honey. In the mouth it is sweet and tangy with a creamy texture. Flavour has roasted malts, floral hops and some traces of citrus with dark fruits and cherries surfacing later. Sweetness lasts into the slightly fruity finish. This is excellent – exactly how a stout should be !

Does what it says on the tin (pump clip)! Slightly misty pale gold with a creamy white head and a soft ceral malt aroma, maybe a touch of lemon going on too. Light and smooth, easy drinking pale ale with soft citrus bitterness and a dry finish

[33cl can from Beer52.] A glossy black pour with a fast fading beige head; aroma of burnt sugar and oats; sweet and milky in the mouth with a cinder toffee taste; and a sweet fudge like finish. Different.

330ml can. Dark brown pour with nice beige to tanned head. Aroma is fairly sweet with toffee, malts, creamed oats. Taste has burnt toffee and brown sugar, dark malt, banana, oats. Medium bodied, near soda like carbonation, semi-dry. Flavours fade somewhat in the finish. A bit odd but pleasant enough.
