Can from Beer52. Mostly clear gold, small white top. Citric and apricot aroma with some flora and light pine. Taste is quite resinous and full of toasted pine notes, mixed citrus pith, zest, grapefruit and toasty finish. Light to medium bodied, fine carbonation. A pine resinous noted SIPA with moderate bitterness. Palate adapts on repeated sips and you pick up the softer fruity notes. The blurb on the can mentions East Coast but to me this tastes like West Coast without the punchy bitterness that it needs. Nonetheless its an interesting beer.

Can from Appellation Wines. The use of the noun rather than the verb is nipping my head a bit, but hey! Appearance - pale yellow lemon and clear with a big frothy head. Nose - bready, peach and a touch of citrus. Taste - mainly sweet peach and vanilla. White bread and sweet spice. Palate - light bodied, a bit sweet. Overall - ok.

Cask at Ebenezers, Nantwich. Pours a slightly hazy pale straw with minimal off-white head. There’s a sweet aroma with tropical fruits and floral hops. In the mouth it is slightly sharp with mango, pineapple and floral hops. Some grapefruit and spices come through later. Finish is dry and slightly bitter. This was certainly better than I expected – I don’t like mango normally !

Cask at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a cloudy golden amber with minimal scummy almost white head and good lacing. There’s a mix of floral hops and malts in the aroma. In the mouth it is quite bitter with a syrupy texture. Hoppy bitterness is present, but plays second fiddle to citrus with melon and tropical fruits also, plus an ugly underlying hint of cough linctus. Some bitterness in the finish. Not for me this one – and no way is it an IPA.

Cask at the Duke of St Albans, Highgate on 1st September 2024. Clear amber with dense yellowy white foam and full lacing. Citrus hop aromas. An agreeable blend of tropical and citrus fruits in-mouth, An initially anticlimactic finish builds with each sip to develop citrus peel and bitterness. Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. All in all a pleasant pint.
