Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a deep clear copper body that supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up various roasted malt notes as well as a few thin layers of caramel and then some mild spicy hoppiness. The taste delivers smooth modestly roasted malts bleeding quickly into thin tobacco earthy maltiness, more lightly roasted malts, a wafer thin caramel malt note and then mild spicy hop bitterness. It hits a softer sweeter spot about midway as the earthy tobacco glides this into the finish with a pleasing level of hop bitterness in tow. Pretty solid.

Poured out of a 32oz crowler where it glugged out thick and dark brown molasses like creating a deep mahogany colored body that supports a full tan head of foam. The aroma offers up various earthy malts, kind of biscuity spicy malts and then thin chocolate and earthy tobacco notes. Nice. The taste delivers the same somewhat complex yet pleasing array of maltiness. All these notes fit together with some flavor harmony. I get some roasted malts, earthy tobacco malt smoothness and spicy sort of crystal like malts. To midway it picks up thin chocolate and a dash of dark roasted malts. This is a terrific sipper.

32oz crowler pours with a hazy copper body that supports a thin off white head of foam. The mild aroma offers up a slice of bread, a biscuit mineral note and then a blend of apple, strawberry and apricot fruity esters. The taste delivers a mineral biscuit maltiness, a hit of melanoidin like malts and then that sliver of sweet apricot nuanced apple and strawberry. This is an interesting interpretation on the style and I enjoy the deeper flavor and ester to malty balance.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a nice dark body that supports a light mocha colored head. The aroma offers up minerals, thin burnt malts and some highly toasted bread. The taste delivers dark roasted malts to thin burnt malts, a dash of molasses sweetness, chocolate and then heading into more highly roasted malts. Pretty solid. The ABV isn’t noticeable at all.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a near clear mahogany colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up roasty to dark roasted malts, earthy malts, a thin tobacco sensation, spicy black licorice, toasted bread and a mineral sort of malty note. The taste delivers rich varied malty goodness with dark roasted malts, thin burnt malts, and earthy spiciness and a thin hit of malt sweetness. Toward the finish a bit of sweet toffee is noticed and blends in perfectly, This is rich without being too much so where a tasty flavor balance is achieved. Solid.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a clear copper body that has thick gold hued edges and supports a light tan head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up some mildly roasted malts, a dash of spice and a bit of toasted bread. The taste delivers thin sweet malts, a dash of roasted malts, a tangy roasted toffee sensation and then a dash of highly roasted malts. To midway it develops a thin breadiness that manages to just be heard over the maltiness going on. Solid.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a clear deep copper body that supports a thin off white head. The aroma offers up some mild malt roastiness and a hint of earthy almost tobacco. The taste delivers smooth slightly roasty slightly sweet malts that pick up a dash of earthy vaguely wet tobacco. Toward the finish a mild mineral spiciness comes to the surface. This comes together nicely. Easy drinking with just enough going on to keep it continually interesting. Solid Mild. Can’t wait to drink more of this one.

The aroma offers up spicy licorice, malts, thin roasted malts and a nice thin earthy faintly tobacco note. The taste delivers smooth mildly sweet malts, spicy black licorice and then the spices nuance an earthy tobacco sensation. This is a nice full flavored brew that stays nimble with plenty of interest going on.

On tap at Lochiel, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out dry caramel, toasted bready malt, and toasted nuts. Flavour is very malty, yet very dry, with lots of dry toasted caramel and bready malt. Could use some sweetness to liven this up. All in all, solid stuff.

On tap at Lochiel, pours a hazy copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out caramel, bready malt and a touch of English hops. Flavour is along the same lines, with light caramel, English bready malt and a touch toffee. Quite bready and malty, with a light hoppy character. Decent.
