Description
Proudly Brewed in Yorkshire since 1999

The award-winning Salamander beers was founded in 1999. Dr Daniel Gent (a doctor of brewing and one of Salamander's founders) mission was to bring high quality independently brewed beer to the masses. To this day Salamander continues to surprise and delight its many customers.

And we haven’t lost our touch for beer either.

Brewing ceased in early 2019 and restarted in late Summer 2021.

Cask @' The Hebden (formerly The Pub), Hebden Bridge. Clear golden with a thick creamy-frothy head. Good-looking but fairly standard hopped brew, certainly ok for a session.

Saturday 13th April 2024, Bertie, Margie and I in Tamworth on a pub crawl. Hand-pulled third of a pint, on a flight of three cask ales. Clean golden pour, white top. Strange Iron Brew flavours (banana), other fruits join in but it's a weird tasting brew all round.

Cask at Boar & Fable, Bradford. Pours clear gold with white foam. Aroma: vague citrus, floral hops. Clean taste, light to moderate sweet & bitter, not much of the promised Antipodean hop vibes. Light to medium body with soft carbonation

Cask at the Pheasant Inn and Brewhouse on Sunday afternoon, 18th February 2024. Auntie Sue had a pint and a half and I had a good taste of both so I could rate it! Black bodied, beige head of tight foam. Roasted/toasted malts with a slight coffee hint and a female leather bike seat appeal.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours golden yellow with a small off-white head and excellent lacing. Not much of an aroma – just some vague traces of floral hops. In the mouth, tropical fruits are the first to come to attention, but these are closely followed by spicy bitterness which becomes the mainstay. Flavour has floral hops, pineapple and lychee plus hints of biscuits and caramel, leading to a spicy finish. Not at all bad – but not very exciting.

Cask at Calverts Court, Stockport. Pours a golden sraw with a medium sized foamy off-white head and excellent lacing. The aroma is mainly floral hops with hints of oranges and citrus. In the mouth it is juicy and very briefly slightly sweet before the bitterness of floral hops comes through to swamp it. Grains and cirus with hints of grapefruit leading to a slightly bitter binish. This is reasonable.

Cask @ The Hebden (formerly The Pub), Hebden Bridge. Clear golden with a creamy head. The pump clip says pale ale but it's certainly more golden ale in design - but a decent clean tasting one.

Cask @ The Hebden, (formerly The Pub), Hebden Bridge. Brownish-red with a small off-white head. Its rum has a very light sweetness to it, but the spirit flavour dominates the brew, so it's not particularly porter-like in taste, although some of this character exists.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Light to mid-gokden with a tight white head. Very nice looking. Sweet gummy resinous aroma, lots of grapefruit and pineapple. Taste sweet, more resinous character and lots of pineapple. A little artificial maybe, but still a very good flavour. Light bitterness in the finish. Decent body with soft carbonation. I do like this.
