THE Sour and Saison tasting. Another Rogue entry - tee hee! Very dark brown beer, big tan head. Smooth palate. Mild fine carbonation. Rich dark malt with a trace of roast. Nice hops - good and fresh and quite orange like. Pretty much does what it says on the tin and does it very well. Smooth, hoppy and very drinkable.

Bottle: Poured a deep pitch-black color ale with a large dirty brown color head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of a powerful hops punch with some citrus notes and some herbal hops notes which are offset by some dry roasted malt notes. Taste is a powerful mix between some huge dry roasted malt offset by citrus and grapefruit hosp notes with an herbal finish. Body is full with somewhat of a creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Well brewed with huge flavour and not necessarily something I would feel like drinking on a regular basis but glad I tasted it.

Bottle at THE Sour and Saison Tasting, London. Many thanks to Kenny for procuring this gal. Pours cloudy, yellow-gold with a creamy, white cap. A bit of sugary yohgurt on the nose, accompanied by doughy pale malts. Light to mediums sweet flavor with more yoghurt (vanilla yoghurt, to be exact), some background pepper, a bit more dough. Light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. Sweet finish with mild spice, herbs, dough. Interesting stuff, if a touch too sweet at times.

Bottle: Poured a deep red/brown color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrus and earthy hops is dominant with medium sweet caramelized malt notes. Taste is also dominated by earthy and citrus hops notes with some semi-sweet caramelized malt notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Nicely done with good hops punch and a solid malt bill.

Bottle thanks to Ken at THE sours & saisons tasting (part 1). It pours cloudy golden-amber, with a massive white head. The nose is rather spicy, lots of freshly cracked black pepper, underlying sweetness, earth and floral notes. The taste is rather dry, peppercorn, creamy, dough, sugary sweetness and weird tanginess, with a dry, peppery finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Can’t say I like pepper in my beer. I really didn’t enjoy this at all. Challenging to drink.....

Bottle (batch 10) thanks to Ken. It pours opaque very dark brown, with a medium beige head. The nose is pine, roasted malt, charcoal, citrus peel, juicy fruit and chocolate. The taste is roasted malt, ash, charcoal, coffee grinds, bitter pine, some underlying spice, salted caramel and faint citrus peel, with a pleasantly bitter finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Flavoursome and very well balanced. Good stuff.
