7/10 β€” Appearance 4 Aroma 7 Flavor 7 Texture 10 Overall 7
Bomber split 3 ways into shaker pint glass. Appearance is cloudy orange, no sparkle, large dark floaties, finger-width off-white head with poor retention and lacing. Aroma is dank, floral, caramel. Taste is as aroma. Palate is medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation, late pleasant alcohol warmth, and finish as taste. Overall, strong flavors but not as complex as the description. Not my favorite hop profile but it is well malted to avoid being a bitter bomb at 95 IBU.

Can pour into nonic pint glass (2018) and taster pour on tap at The Grill Next Door (2020). Appearance is cloudy, orange-yellow-brown with trace sparkle at the edge of the glass, 2-plus finger width foamy white head with decent retention and tons of soapy lacing ('18); lightly hazy piss yellow with trace sparkle, finger-width white foamy head with excellent retention and light leggy lacing ('20). Aroma is modest tropical fruit, dank, grapefruit, bready malt background ('18); cooking herb dominant with strong wheat bread/cracker backbone ('20). Taste is initial sweet tropical fruit, citrus, grapefruit, morphing into herb, and still later soda cracker contribution ('18); cooking herb dominant and cracker/grainy/bready backbone ('20). Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation, spicy with dry finish as taste with slight bitterness along with the sweet ('18); light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, average carbonation and finish as taste with dry, lightly bitter finish ('20). Overall, aroma and taste are a bit difficult to pin down with fair complexity as it matures in the glass ('18). Either there's a big difference can to tap or the recipe has been tinkered with in a couple of years. Enjoyed both equally but they were quite different.

Can pour into nonic pint glass on two separate occasions. Appearance is cloudy, milky yellow with light sparkle at the edge of the glass, nice finger-width off-white head with fair retention and leggy lacing (whole appearance reminds me of an Orange Julius). Aroma of one beer was stone fruit and tropical fruit, another was herbal with a bit of musk. Taste was tropical fruit/stone fruit with one with light earthy bitterness at the end; for the other musky, herbal with light grapefruit and citrus. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thin texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, Galaxy is just an OK hop for me, but this is probably one of my favorite Galaxy offerings. Then, I noticed the born on date was almost 5 months earlier for the first beer (tropical fruit/stone fruit) so thought I would try again (figuring those flavors would be even stronger). On second go around, was herbal dominant and couldn't pick out the fruits and this was canned same day! Go figure. Either wide variability between batches or a combination of a more varied hop than I thought and the passage of time.

Can pour into tulip glass. Advertised as an "Imperial Pale Ale" but without a Rate Beer category for this, seems more DIPA than APA. Appearance is cloudy light orange--like a peach juice--with trace sparkle at edge of the glass, finger-width fizzy white head with poor retention and trace leggy lacing. Aroma is strong tropical fruit, milder citrus and nice malt backbone. Taste is sweet fruit, herb, mild astringency, late biscuit/bread and mild earthy bitter. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, average-to-lively carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter finish. Overall, strong aroma and flavor as is typical for the brewer. Appearance is decent; palate is a little thin/overcarbonated.

Can pour into tulip glass. Appearance is cloudy dark yellow/light brown with nice sparkle at the edge of the glass, finger-width fizzy white head with decent retention and soapy lacing. Aroma is strong tropical fruit, orange/citrus--a bit astringent--more moderate dank bitterness. Taste is tropical fruit, pineapple, dank earth, light cracker. Palate is light bodied with smooth, thin, slightly frothy texture, average-to-lively carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter, mildly astringent, dry finish. Overall, bold aroma, good flavor though not as bold, palate's a tad thin, decent appearance. Another solid offering all around from this brewer.

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass from the brewery. Appearance is medium yellow-greenish, nice sparkle, 3-finger width foamy white head. Aroma is citrus, fruit, champagne/white wine yeasty tart. Taste is fruity esters, melon, spice, mild banana at the end. Complexity improves as it warms. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, average carbonation, dry, tart finish. Overall, this one began as competent, though not outstanding, but grew on me as it went along.
