375ml bottle. Pours red brown with a strong head. Cherry, currants, prunes, molasses, little spice. Rum cuts through a bit more strongly in the flavour than the nose. Quite a bit of alcohol heat from that. The rum does a lot to convince you this is a soured quad, with the dried fruit and spice notes. Pretty impressive, and I wasn’t expecting it.

From a 500ml bottle on 19/2/2017 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours close to black with a medium to big head. The nose features chocolate, basement and booze notes. Flavour wise, it starts out with sweet chocolate, some caramel and lots of roast/burnt malt, and some oak, which is followed b a distinct bitter/sour finish, which lingers in the mouth. The texture is creamy and the carbonation moderate. Not too dusty, but just a touch harsh at the back to really hit the spot..

On tap at Brothers Beer. Plenty of fruity orange and peach, with some spice character too. Unfortunately, also something a bit chemical sneaking in. Not ideal.

A beautiful beer. Great balance on the cherry and Brett, nice aging. A bit of a carbonated feel.

On tap at the Lumsden. Aroma is a little floral, a little peach, but mostly a strong biscuit malt base. Flavour is pretty much the same. Fine.

375ml bottle at 7.5%. Pours murky and pale. Aroma is grapes, funky wheat and all a bit messy. Flavour is really nice grassy sweet grape and sour grapefruit notes and some bread. Good interpretation of the style.
