375ml bottle. Cloudy golden beer with a very rich nose. Delicately sour with a good kick of wheat

330ml bottle into schooner glass. Old fashioned ’beery’ aroma, cardboard and Weetbix. Dark golden beer with thin white sudsy head, medium carbonation. Tastes of tin, breakfast cereal and grain. It just tastes like a beer from yesteryear but it is easy drinking.

Shared 12.7 oz. bottle. Pours a clear straw with a white head. Medium to high carbonation. Nose is black cherry soda with licorice notes. Taste is not as sweet as the nose would indicate. Cherry, faint apple, and wheat. A medicinal finish not unlike watered-down cough syrup. Refreshing. Overall, it’s fine for a day at the beach and I wouldn’t turn it down if it was offered.

Cherry candy nose, lemon zest. Clear amber, thin head. Cherry, banana, bubble gum, dry. Full body, soft carbonation. Nice, but kind of artificial.

Bottle from Messrs Barley Malt & Hops, Kuala Lumpur. Poured hazy medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is citrus, malt, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a woody resin hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. An easy drinking IPA that won’t set the world alight.

375ml bottle pours out dark brown almost black topped with a fizzy head. This one popped out of the bottle. I am convinced wine barrel aged stouts are not a good idea after I have had a few bad experiences with them. Nose is pit fruit roast pino barrel notes and a bit of infection. Taste is more of the roast malts wine barrel notes vanilla and a odd end. Pass.

Bottle from Messrs Barley Malt & Hops, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy straw colour with a broken frothy white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is skunky lager malt, some hops. The flavour is moderate bitter with a watery, light hop bitter palate. Light bodied with lively carbonation. It’s hard to imagine how this beer actually won any awards!

Deep dark brown coloured body, but only 75% opaque when held up to a light, all with a very thin, half centimetre tall, light brown head with small bubbles. Aroma of alcohol, oatmeal, roasted malt, coffee, lactose and quite a bit of oak and dryness. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep roasty flavours throughout with a lot of coffee and oatmeal noticeable, all with a big wine flavour along with some oak, vanilla and even some whiskey notes showing quite a bit of boozyness at the end. Aftertaste is nice and rich with a ton of complexities, but a bit watery and bitter from the roast, but all-in-all, very good. Overall, a very nice stout, that tastes much more like a ’foreign’ stout than ’imperial’, but a lot of complexity, and a good beer to acquire and age for a bit, if possible. I sampled this 37,5 cL corked and caged split bottle, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 30-November-2013 for US$4,76 sampled at home in Washington on 04-March-2016.

Pours a slightly hazy amber from a bottle, quickly dissipating white head. Slightly skunky aroma, otherwise rather fruity smelling. Big tropical fruit flavor, surprisingly but nicely hoppy Belgian tripel. Good beer.

Bottle. Light amber with a large white head that lasts OK. Yes, pine, but also grapefruit, boiled oranges, butterscotch, herbal lemon and spices. I guess I’m drinking it about 10C and either that’s too warm or this is sickly sweet and maybe a bit slick. The citrus and some light tropical notes come through but it’s distracting. Off dry finish with medium high bitterness. Just OK - probably caught it too late.
