Description
Beers are a beautiful thing and we’re very proud of ours here at Empire Brewing. An established micro-brewery situated amongst the rolling Yorkshire hills of Slaithwaite, we’ve been producing fine artisan ales for over a decade.
From a humble garage-based micro-brewery to the slick operation you see today at our boiler house by the canal, our beers – and the way we do things – have come a long way. But our values remain exactly the same: to produce creative and dynamic artisan brewing you’ll love.

Cask at Angel, Stockport. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small foamy cream head. Not much of an aroma – just some hints of dark fruits. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy with plums bing the predominant flavour. There’s also some roasted malts and traces of ginger biscuits and molasses. Fruitiness continues in the finish. This isn’t bad, but I’m getting heartily sick of the plethora of plum porters around these days “

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. There’s a powerful aroma of malts, oats, chocolate and cocoa. In the mouth it is creamy and smooth. Flavour has chocolate, cherries and dark fruits with just a hint of citrus. Finish is quite sweet, and slightly dry. This is very nice indeed – nicely understated, doesn’t go overboard.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a creamy head and session texture. Mild hoppy, not a great deal of fruit coming through.

Cask @ Fox & Pine, Oldham. Clear golden with a creamy-smooth head. Its raspberry is potent in aroma and heavy in taste and aftertaste - somewhat overbearing to say the least, as a crafted brew relatively interesting.

Cask @ Fox and Goose, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a thick creamy head. Has quite a bland tasting, creamy hoppiness given its close to watery feel to its texture.

Cask at Angel, Stockport – at 4.7%. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. Theres malts and oats in the aroma. Pretty much the same in the mouth, which has an underlying sweetness. Traces too of chocolate, lemon and dark fruits. Sweetness continues in the finish. This is reasonable.
