Taster pour on tap at Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival. Appearance is opaque yellow (like orange-juice) with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass almost finger-width white head with decent retention. Aroma is nice citrusy smell grains in background. Taste is bitter piney but also citrus--a bit retro but not so prevalent these days--kind of like putting on an old sweater. Hint of grapefruit but more pine/citrus. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with thin smooth texture soft carbonation with a lively ending kick and finish as taste with lingering mix of sweet and bitter. Overall we've been here before but people aren't brewing this so much anymore so it's kind of nice to see again. Mildly overcarbonated. 3.7 - 3.8

Draft taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival. Appearance is light brown with small cap of head. Aroma is raspberry, both sweet and tart aspects. Taste as aroma. Palate light-to-medium bodied, average carbonation, finish as taste. Overall, weird to say but the sweet and sour of the raspberry provided a weird conflict. Not a great identity as either a sweet beer or a tart/sour beer as a result. That was the only aroma/flavor. Pretty pedestrian all around.

Draft taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival. Appearance is mildly hazy dark brown, no discernible sparkle, thin ring of beige head, fair retention. Aroma is strong caramel and bready malt, hint of chocolate. Taste is nice caramel and bread mixed with a not altogether pleasing mild fruity tartness. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, average carbonation and finish as taste, with dry, earthy bitterness that's a little off. Overall, the aroma suggests a strong, but relatively straightforward brown ale, but the taste takes an odd turn.

Taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival. Appearance is fairly clear light brown with no sparkle, finger-width creamy off-white head with light lacing. Aroma is faint juicy hops, rye, light bread/grains. Taste is rye spiciness, bitter, citrus, sugary sweetness toward end. Palate is light-to-medium bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation and mix of sweet and mild bitter with rye finish as taste. Overall, an easy drinker with some balance but fairly average.

Taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival. Appearance is cloudy dark brown with a tiny ring of beige head. Aroma is all malts, somewhere between toast and full on roasted. Taste is bittersweet light roast, earthiness thanks to the Hallertau. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation, with balance between sweet and bitter along with some earth in the finish. Overall, this is clean and decent but not that exciting.

From my brother: pours golden with a white head. Aroma is lightly fruity and bread and stuff. Simple beer. Nothing too special.

Bottle shared by Mark at the homebrew club meeting, Thanks! Hazy deep straw color with a rich frothy head. Huge citrus and mango with some light tropical and grassy notes. Somewhat creamy in the mouthfeel. Really good swifty!

Bomber bottle. Pours a deep black with a thin white head. Spicy pine, roast, cocoa, chocolate for the aroma.
Lighter bodied, mild roasted backbone. Good amount of earthy pine bitterness. Slow roast into the finish, a bit more pine, chocolate and lingering roast. Overall it is decent / standard for the CDA / black IPA style.

650 ml bottle. Color is black. I guess the cold brewed coffee turn it this color? Not brown at all. The aroma was of coffee, roasted malts and some molasses.
The taste was of coffee and sweet dark malts with a light bitter aftertaste. Coffee dominates the flavor. And that’s probably why this is the best beer I’ve ever had from this Brewer because it’s mostly cold brewed earthy coffee.

Bottle from Bert’s Pours a dark brown bordering on black with faint garnet at the edges, tightly bubbled off white head dissipates quickly. Big roasty coffee on the nose with hints of earth and tart fruit. Bold roasted coffee up front and lingering in the finish. Light peppery spicy notes with a hint of sour cherry tart midway through. Oud Bruin? not even close! I’m going to take a wild guess and say this is their Start of the Day coffee brown that got a little lactic. Its not a horrible beer, just not as advertised.
