Draft @ Newark Airport, full size pour (22 oz.) at the regular inflated airport price... Clear golden yellow color. Short white head. Aroma’s of grains and hop(leave)s. Flavor is light sweet, light hopbiiter, light fruity. Light bodied. Finishes with light bitterness. OK, but too unremarkable to bear the name craft lager (if they call it that).

16 oz can from the grocery store. So this is beer, huh? Pours exactly like a Sprite (or a Zima!), with a slightly hazy white hue with a crackly collapsing white head. Gnarly. Smells sugary sweet with strong notes of vanilla. Tastes sweet with flavors of vanilla, very light citrusy Sprite-like flavors. This is some real gourmet shit compared to the Redd’s Wicked Blood Orange I drank before this. In the hard soda/beer category anyway. I really doubt there’s much anything to do with beer in this, but the can does say "Ale with natural flavors." This is actually really tasty. It’s just that it’s connection to beer is tenuous at best.

32 ounce growler from the brewery. Good name but nothing special beer. This is one of those kettle sours. Aroma is vegetal, malt husks, tart wheat. Not very enticing. Flavor has a tartness that I enjoy but its like the dullest and simply uninteresting base beer. Why make a crap beer and add lacto instead of making a good beer and adding lacto. I’ll drink this growler but it’s light and tart (plus I paid for it) but I wouldn’t want more of this.

32oz growler filled at brewery. Color is amber honey, clear. I wasn’t sure what this beer is all about but it was interesting enough based on the small sample size. After a few ounces, I finally get the beer, it’s a pizza beer. Not sure if that was the point but it smells like basil and tomato sauce. And maybe I smell crust but it could be just an association. Flavor has a malty amber base and that pizza beer aspect. As all beers like that it gets old after a while and 32oz is a while.

Growler fill from brewery. Black beer tan head. Aroma is fumy, a little dark bark. A little black syrup. Gravely black malts. Flavor is a little earthy sweet, with a light oat like flavors just a little bit of acidic tartness but overall hardy stout with a lightly fruity yeast. Low bitterness and a bit of dry black malt finish. Flavor much better than aroma. Just a little too much black malt but not acrid or acidic.

Draft at brewery. Pale gold color. Hazy, low clarity. Light lacing. Flavor is dry hops. Aspirin like astringency with pine and citrus light. Yuck, bitterness lasts. Everything I dislike in a beer like this.

12 ounce bottle into perfect pint glass, best before 12/2016. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/light copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, peppercorn, clove, coffee, and toasted brown/rye bread; with lighter notes of cocoa, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and solid balance of bready malt, pumpkin, spices, and coffee notes; with good strength. Pretty strong on spice in the aromas, but not overwhelming. Taste of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, peppercorn, clove, coffee, and toasted brown/rye bread; with lighter notes of cocoa, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal spice and roast/coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, peppercorn, clove, coffee, toasted brown/rye bread, light cocoa/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt, pumpkin, spices, and coffee flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish, Slight dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.2%. Overall this is a very good pumpkin ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt, pumpkin, spices, and coffee flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Pretty unique for the style with the espresso beans and roast/rye malts; but is very well balanced all around. A very enjoyable offering.

12-ounce bottle twelve ounce bottle poured into Jewbelation 18th anniversary glass. Very dark brown, almost black color with a small but stable tan head. Aroma is straightforward clean malts with a mineral aspect. Not roasted, not acidic, and not sweet. A little earthy. Flavor follows along with being a generic stout without flaws of acridness or acidity but light mineralness. A light finish, low bitterness, clean fresh water feel. A little paper dry feeling. The head scratching part is there is no "honey" feel, no sweetness or honey flavor. It’s like the marketing team said we can’t just make a decent stout, we need to make it appealing to craft drinkers. Aha! Let’s make believe honey makes a difference to the quality of the beer when it’s like just an insignificant part. As I add the beer to the database I learn it’s 8%, which is shocking. I thought this was 5%

At the brewery: pours copper with a small white head. Aroma is honey, coconut, sugar, wood. Taste is sweet. Plenty of spice. Fairly smooth for the high abv. Very interesting aftertaste that is a mix of all the stuff put in here.
