12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 12/2015. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color wit ha 1 finger foamy light tan head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, licorice, vanilla, cola, wood, mint, and herbal/spice earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and compelxity of dark malt and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, licorice, vanilla, cola, wood, mint, and herbal/spice earthiness. Light herbal/spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, molasses, licorice, vanilla, cola, wood, and herbal/spice earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark malt and spice flavors; with a good malt/spice balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, fairly crisp/prickly, and lightly slick/syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome hard root beer style. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of dark malt and spice flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brn with a fizzy/creamy beige head. Aroma is root beer. Flavor is root beer - perhaps a bit heavy on sugar, and perhaps on sarsaparilla. Sort of heavy duty root beer irrespective of any alcohol content. Good flavor. But beer? Perhaps an original American standard.

Pour is a black with a soda fizzy tan head. Aroma is you typical root beer licorice and molasses with a lot of sugar. Flavor is not real root beer intense. Some root beer flavor but really watery and fizzy. It’s not overly sweet so it’s go that going for it but it’s also not real flavorful. I’m not a real soda drinker so this is not my thing. Cheap no name soda root beers have more flavor than this.

A bottle at home after winding down from opening Patriots game. Hazed orange pour. Nose is hoppy pine and melon. Tastes of honey dew, resin, dank weed, pine, grass, nd yeast. Overly flavorful for a pils. Pleasant brew

12 oz bottle. Only got this because I saw Eugene was chillin with these guys this week and the bottle/name caught my eye from a distance. Yay for an unofficial Coney Island tick. Pours, smells, and tastes like any standard root beer soda. Has no hint of alcohol at all. Damn good thing I love rootbeer. I’ll drink this if I’m in the mood, but in other times, I’m glad I tried this.

Bottle. Sassafras/sarsaparilla, malt, licorice, and light alcohol aroma. Dark chestnut brown with moderate but short lasting head. Sweet sassafras/sarsaparilla/vanilla malt and mildly bitter herbal alcohol flavor. Nice body. Pretty tasty.

12 oz bottle, thanks Anderson01! Aroma is exactly like root beer, with some added caramel and wet river rock. Pours black with red highlights and a beige head that dissipates into a collar fairly quick. Looks better than Not Your Father’s Root Beer. Tastes like root beer with an added malt beverage character and an almost Jaggermeister type taste to it. Maybe Root Beer Schnapps is closer to what I’m tasting. Tasty.
