Super rich dark brown body with an oily black glow and a nice one centimetre tall deep dark brown head. Aroma of ridiculously strong oatmeal, nuts, earth and coffee with a less assertive prune, milk, chocolate and raisin sweetness throughout. Full-bodied; Rich chocolate and roasted malt notes at first with a surprising amount of carbonation, all with a deep pit fruit sweetness and some pungent anise and licorice notes to finish it off. Aftertaste shows quite the complexity with ranges from burnt to pit fruit sweetness and back to anise and permanent marker all finishing with a vanilla, oak, spice and especially alcohol burning finale. Overall, a nice imperial stout with tons of character and complexity but perhaps still a bit too dark and pungent throughout for me. I had aged my bottle for over 10 months and it still wasn’t long enough. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors on 13-July-2013 for US$3.25 sampled at home in Washington on 01-May-2014 as beer #4501 as my 3rd rating out of 3 to celebrate the milestone. Non-Vintage on Bottle // Bought in July 2013 // Sampled in May 2014

12oz bottle from Orchard Fresh, Orchard Park, NY. Hazy pale amber with a creamy white head; citrusy aroma with some hints of lemongrass; grapefruit taste and a creamy body; and a fresh finish. Rather good.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy bright yellow color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was citric and floral with notes of chamomile, must, pepper and cracker. The flavor was dry, musty and dusty with notes of cracker, chamomile, coriander, citric acid and a vague herbal presence. Long dry musty and citrus finish. Medium body. Decent.

Draft on guest tap @ Portsmouth Brewery. Cloudy yellow with lasting head retention. Aroma is clementine peels, light coriander and wheat. Flavor is the aroma. Bitterness is low with a dry texture. The beer does have balance with citrus and floral hops and spice. Maybe a touch too much coriander. The body is light and fizzy like soda pop. To me this is average at best. Worth a try on draft but I sure wouldn’t want an aging bottle of this. Skip the bottle and go draft only.

12oz bottle pours a very murky marigold with some thin, clumpy white head. Nose is really cool, bright orange juice, a little coriander, some soap, a little perfume, but mostly fresh citrus juice (tangerine, orange). Flavor follows suit, lightly sweet, a splash of honey, some mild straw, a little coriander, some bright fresh grapefruit, some bright orange, tangerine. Clean, refreshing finish. I was worried this would be a gimmick, in fact, it’s lovely.

Draft. Poured a hazy light golden yellow color with a medium white head. Aroma was nice citrus notes, some pine resin. Flavor was a very nice pine and citrus hop, fresh tasting, nice yeast notes on the finish make this one interesting and easy to drink and about perfect for the Spring.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 4/13/14

Aroma: The aroma is citrus hops, clean pale malts, fresh and tangy, with some light pepper notes
Appearance: It pours a cloudy, bright, golden-orange color with a thick, frothy, lasting, white head
Flavor: Taste-wise, it has some light sweetness, and a nice, tangy, citrus hop bitterness
Palate: This one drinks nicely, smooth feel, average-plus carbonation, and a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: Shockingly good. First off, not many beers have a nicer looking pour, and from there it stays great. This is a really, really nice beer. I had no expectations for this one, but I really enjoyed it.
