Description
The Oslo was the start of Galway Bay Brewery and remains our flagship pub based in Salthill; our owners Jason O’Connell and Niall Walsh added a brewery on site in 2009, making The Oslo one of the country’s first brew pubs. Since then Galway Bay Brewery has expanded operations to 11 bars based in Galway and Dublin and have grown and re-positioned the Brewery just outside of Galway in Oranmore. We now produce four core beers along with a plethora of rotational beers that are released throughout the year.

With the installation of our new brew house we are turning our focus towards exporting and making our beers available in the UK and Europe

Tap @ The Black Sheep, Dublin. Opaque dark brown to black color, average sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, dark malts, chocolate, light cocoa, lightly chocolate sweet and light malt bitter. Lovely!

Tap @ The Black Sheep, Dublin. Clear light amber color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, light hops in the background and a light malt bitter finish. Decent body and carbonation. Ok beer.

Tap @ The Brew Dock, Dublin, shared with Niilstrong. Hazy orange color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, hops, resinous and piney but fruity as well and a solid bitter finish. Medium to full body and carbonation. Lovely Double IPA.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy golden body with a off-white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of honey, pineapple and orange peel. Flavour of salted melon rind, biscuit, resin and mango. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Robust and flavoursome. Really good.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Murky golden body with a thick white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, hay and tangerine. Flavour of orange pith and lemon zest. Thin to medium body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft fizz. Sharp and fruity. Nice.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of light lemon and malt. Taste is light sweet, vaguely herbal.

At a tasting, almost no head, murky very dark red color, aroma of cake, caramel and butterscotch, flavor of caramel, butterscotch, sour fruits and oxidised hints creeping in. Fair and drinkable.
