Description
The Oslo was the start of Galway Bay Brewery and remains our flagship pub based in Salthill; our owners Jason O’Connell and Niall Walsh added a brewery on site in 2009, making The Oslo one of the country’s first brew pubs. Since then Galway Bay Brewery has expanded operations to 11 bars based in Galway and Dublin and have grown and re-positioned the Brewery just outside of Galway in Oranmore. We now produce four core beers along with a plethora of rotational beers that are released throughout the year.
With the installation of our new brew house we are turning our focus towards exporting and making our beers available in the UK and Europe

500ml bottle @ Belgian Beer Geeks Winter Gathering. Pours pitch black, dense tan head. Prominent coffee nose, rich dark malts. Oily palate. Flavour profile is dominated by coffee grain and an espresso bitterness, earthy moments and an enticing chocolate side with distant dark berry murmurs. Decent.

1/III/25 - 50cl bottle @ Belgian Beer Geek Gathering (2025 Winter/Spring edition), BB: 14/IV/22, lot 0475 (2025-214) Thanks to ElManana+1 for sharing the bottle!
Pretty clear dark brown beer, practically no head. Aroma: very oxidized, some whisky, soy sauce, a bit spicy, gentle roast, some caramel, chocolate notes. MF: soft to no carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter start, very roasted, lots of alcohol, caramel, bitter, pretty acidic, dusty, more alcohol. Aftertaste: a bit oxidized, some alcohol, sourish touch, spicy, is that a chilli burn, or just lots of alcohol burning? More oxidation, meh. Clearly past its prime.

Bottle shared at Brewver Belgian Winter Gathering. Opaque pitch black color, virtually no head. Aroma and flavor are malts, espresso, light tart, pretty bitter. Hmm okay but not as good as I'd hoped.

Bottle at Belgian Beer Geeks Gathering. Almost black with small head. Dry earthy malts, soft coffee, whisky, blackberries, dry earthy notes. Almost medium sweet, light sour and bitter finish. Over medium bodied, quite dry. Not my thing.

Bouteille 50cl @ Belgian Winter gathering 01 March 2025 – Tim’s place, thanks Bjorn.
BB 14/04/2022, batch# 0475.

Can at home, from Craft Central.ie, 25/02/2025.
Moderately hazed orange golden topped with a lasting white head.
Nose is orange pith, grass, pineapple, mandarin, papaya, mango splash.
Taste comprises grapefruit, pine needle, ripe melon, faint mineral bite, grass, papaya, guava.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close spiked with lightly aggressive dankened hop bitterness allied to light boost offered.
Tidy DIPA with a little old skool vibe about it.

Dark tan head over pitch-black beer. Liquorice, roast, sweet breadcrust, and slightly perfumey, mint. Sweet dark roast, something of eggnog, sweet. Finish is molasses with alcohol-drenched wood, rum. Parsley. Very oily feel, chewy, alcoholburn. For a sweet stout, quite OK.

Bottiglia.
