Bottle from Tavour as Capital Dark Doppelbock. Pours slightly ruddy dark amber with a transient beige head. Aroma of medium dark fruits and dark caramel. Med body or so. Flavor is smoothly darkish malt with medium dark fruit. The malt’s the thing, and it’s not all that sweet. Pleasing stuff.

From old tasting notes. Labeled as "Wild Rice Garten Brau". Deep yellow gold color. Soft nutty malt aroma. Smooth nutty toasted malt flavor has a clinging mouthfeel. Delicious subtle spicy hop finish. Great balance. Very well done.

1,200th rating! Pours a dark brown from a bottle, big roasty caramel, a little molasses, similar flavor, horribly sweet and syrupy, one-dimensional. Okay beer.

First tick in almost 3 years! 12 ounce bottle from Brennans Brookfield. Hazy pale amber, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of cereal grains, grassy malt. Sweet. Taste is sweet malts and grassy hops. Thin. Meh.

Copper with a white head. Sweet toasted malts throughout with light grain. Medium bodied. Mild but sharp cardination. Easy going Lager but slightly too much grain.

Poured into a thistle, the appearance was a dark copper color with a finger’s worth of eggshell white foamy head. Mild stringy lace.
The aroma had some notes of clean caramel/toffee malts, some dark fruit, damp wood, sly smoke, earthiness, some grassiness, light herbal qualities and a little bit of cherry.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side with a rolling smokiness coming in underneath. Malty to smoky sort of aftertaste, but super light. Finish was moderately sweet with a touch of smoke.
The palate was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine, fairly low but expected. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, really nice scotch ale that I would have again.

This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy dark gold to amber color with a white foamy finger’s worth of head.
The aroma had some cream and pumpkin sweetness. Some caramel and biscuit-like malts play underneath. Light spice, somewhat like ginger and clove, a touch of allspice.
The flavor leads with the pumpkin sweetness and brings in the spices ever so slightly. Some earthiness, and toffee with a touch of butterscotch comes in slightly. Creamy sort of pumpkin sweet aftertaste riding on into the finish.
The feel was about medium bodied, helped with a sturdier malt base I noticed in the aroma and flavor. Good carbonation. ABV felt just right too.
Overall, wish I lived in the distro of this beer, as I would probably be buying this every Autumn.

From old tasting notes. Mahogany brown color leads to a rocky tan head. Clean toasted malt aroma, remiscent of brown bread. Flavorful malty palate is earthy and toasty. Slightly hoppy finish. The malt is the star here. Faithful to the Bavarian Dunkel style.
