Can: Poured a clear yellow color cider with strong carbonation. Aroma consists of medium sweet apple with not much else in terms of characteristics. Taste is dominated by some mildly sweet apple juice with a bland finish and some very limited complexity. Not bad but no great flaw either.

473 ml can from Andrei / Torpedo (non on ratebeer), thanks! Sampled on January 27, 2013.Clear dark brown color, tan head. Sweet, malty, metallic scent. Sweet, dry, malty, metallic taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Second bad IPA i’ve had tonight. This one is better than the beer academy in that its drinkable, but worse in that they didn’t even attempt to do the style. As much of an IPA as alexander keiths. Only a little better of a lager at least

Originally rated May 2006. Last of the Laker reviews. Kept the strongest for last. This will also compliment the Laker Premium Light I just had. Pours a rich golden colour with no carbonation. The head is big, creamy and foamy with better retention than the Laker Light. Good lacing all around. The nose is grainy in malt with a touch of alcohol. Watery mouthfeel, with again the alcohol showing up slightly in the back of the throat. The taste is mild with grain malt and fruits like apples in the aftertaste. Not bad on the burn, but rather have a few more of their normal lagers to get her done.

Purchased at the LCBO in a Waterloo Seasonal Collection Mixer 6-pack. Pours a slightly hazy rich amber colour with a big frothy off-white head that last quite a long time and creates real good lacing. Caramel malt aromas with notes of toffee and the hop is present, but not strong like a traditional English IPA. Crisp mouthfeel, refreshing, and medium-light bodied. The sweetness from the caramel malt is nicely cut-off with some mild bitterness and hints of grass (found in the finish). Pretty mild overall and not a punch-in-the-face IPA, but much better than most Brick products.

For this rating - a 900 milestone - I decided instead of rating the beer, I’d let the beer rate me. It was difficult at first to communicate with the beer, but after some deep thinking (read drinking), I came upon just the right psychological medium to communicate with the few yeast still alive in my tin can of Laker Ice. Here it is: The guy drinking me seems to turn a pale colour after taking his first sip, almost deathly if I had to choose an adjective. He smells a little drunk - I feel like I’m not being accorded all the proper respect due to a beer that rates in the tenth percentile of the distinguished category of pale lager. Just think of the multitude of lagers that rate worse than me... His appearance is a little offensive. After sipping, he pulls his lower jaw back in some sort of attempt to close off the top of his throat to any further invasion. He squints his eyes and looks around as if someone else is responsible for this digression in taste. His stomach churns after I flow down his throat, clearly offended by a perceived sense of mistreatment. His palate is pasty - there is far too much slobber floating around in his mouth to make an honest rating here. Overall solidfunk is a bad recipient of the yellowy, high-carbonated bliss I have to offer him in the lager department. A pity.

Can - Orange peel, bread and some grains. Hops do peek through but very mild. Crystal clear orange with a creamy long lasting head. Resin and bitterness prevail. Needs much more depth of flavor, but not bad. Not quite an IPA.

Canette 473ml. De couleur dorée-cuivrée et claire. Nez de grains de malt sucrés, léger de houblon herbeux avec des notes fruitées (agrumes) et quelques traces de légumes bouillis sucrés. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture très légèrement crémeuse. Très léger goût fruité 9agrumes) avec un léger goût de légumes bouillis sucrés lors de l’entrée en bouche suivi rapidement d’un goût de grains de malt sucrés avec de faibles traces de biscuits et de miel puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon herbeux aux notes asséchantes. Post-goût moyen et aux notes sèches, légèrement amer de houblon herbeux.

A golden IA with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, grainy malt with grassy hops, and light mineral notes. In mouth, a crisp malt with faint German like hops, lager like, boring. On tap at National Capital Craft Beer Festival, August 17, 2012.
