Description
Through more than 200 years of making real premium craft cider, six generations of the Sheppy family have weathered the ups and downs of combining farming with cider-making by embracing change and opportunity.
Today David Sheppy the incumbent Master of Cider, applies his unrivalled knowledge and expertise from a lifetime of cider making to turn our home-grown apples into some of the finest and award winning ciders.
Fifteen of our 90 acres of orchards we planted with tradition standard apple trees. Eight acres of these are certified organic. The remaining 75 acres contain bush trees planted at between 200 and 300 trees per acre, so about 19,000 trees in total at Sheppy's.

500ml bottle from Morrisons. Orange gold with no head. Cider no. 3 on cider night. Woody appley aroma. At least itโs a bit interesting. Kind of stewed apple with some unsubtle wood. Some character. It reminds me a bit of stewed rhubarb. Still, not wonderful.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear golden with a rough, white head that dissipates in no time. Lightly tart apple aroma. Medium body with dry apple notes and some acidity. The honey isnโt very distinct but I believe it adds a certain smoothness to the mouthfeel. Fairly high in carbonation with a dry finish. Very drinkable. 190208

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear golden with a tiny head. Extremely concentrated and very fresh apple aroma. Medium in body and low in carbonation. First some acidity and then a bitterness that comes creeping to give a rather astringent finish. But quite lovely - and again with the alcohol amazingly well hidden. 190208

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear amber colour - no head. Dry apple aroma. Light-bodied - almost watery. Clean and very dry apple notes and a fairly high carbonation. The finish is dry and less astringent than most other English ciders. Very fresh and quenching, and itโs hard to believe that this really holds 7% ABV. 190208

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear, deep golden with no head. Leathery apple aroma. Medium-bodied and very classical English with its leathery astringency and also some wooden notes. Sweetness dominates but itโs very well balanced by the leathery astringency. Low in carbonation and therefore terribly easy to drink in spite of the heavy alcohol. 180208

Bottled. A yellow beer with a fast disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet yet acidic with notes of wood and a light touch of apples. THe flavor is sweet and acidic with light notes of apples, and a dry finish. Somewhat odd.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Delicate pale gold colour with a big, frothy white head. Sweet apple with a touch of barnyard. Caramelised apple flavours with some balancing dryness in the finish. Enjoyable.
